Spoke with ID...cardiac doctors will not let me stop Plavix...so we will find a doctor to take the port out with me on the Plavix. Most likely a thoracic surgeon...it is real easy to take out I think....then I will be treated for eight plus weeks for bacteremia, sepsis and endocarditis. After that I should feel like a new women. The overall thought here is that I have had this for a while and the other antibiotics I had been on were masking this but not treating it...getting a closure device in your heart when you are already septic is a bad bad idea..but we didn't know. I may be able to transfer care back home by the end of the week, depending on fast my cultures clear!

As an update ..I just saw cardiac surgeon. They want to remove port in Operating Room not anywhere else just because of the blood thinners...I was told that he is the cream of the crop in cardiac surgeons!!! But I have to wait a few more hours to go! They will biopsy the site to be sure that is the source of infection ! Let's hope so and pray for my heart !!! Xo

 it went as smooth as can be! Just pray the port was the source of infection...we won't know for a few days!

Thanks!!!! Itnisnthe hurry up and wait... I am all,prepped and ready to go, waiting for surgeon to finish the case in front of me. Since the infection is so severe they can only use IVs for now and once I improve they will put a PICC in..right now anything they put in will get infected so it has to. Be short term,


What a happy day it will be when I am fever free! Infection free and have Jack in my arms!!!!
