Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hey all,
We've had Penny for just about two weeks now. She's great in almost every respect. She's super mellow most of the time and very responsive to me. She's doing really well with basic obedience and I know she's going to be a wonderful dog. However there is one issue that I'm trying to nip in the bud now -- jumping.
She normally does really well at not jumping up, however when our two year old and four year old get running around she loves to join in the action. She has scratched both of our girls unintentionally now and I know we need to stop this before she gets too big. I've found a couple good pieces of advice online and here's what we've started to do:
This is a pretty new issue for us (last couple days) so it's not ingrained in her yet. I think we can curb it with the methods above, but wanted to see if y'all had any other suggestions.
Thanks!

Vin, it is so great that you are addressing these issues so early. I think you and Penelope are off to a great start.
We don't have children, so Cosmo is only around them at the park or when we visit our nieces and nephews. My 6-year-old nephew, who has spent the most time with Cosmo, became quite expert at the "turn away with arms folded" technique. And it worked like a charm with Cosmo.
I'm sorry I don't have much more to offer, but I wish you all the best of luck!
Penny is ADORABLE!!!
Great suggestions! I have three doodles and not only do they jump but they compete to see who can jump the highest! It is so much harder to correct when there is more than one jumper-just when one of them stops, another rushes in to take their place!
You are doing well and got great suggestions--I also have a squirt bottle filled with water--I give them a stream of water in the nose when they jump on people at the door--it is harmless but effective. I would try the obedience suggestions first however--I am getting pretty desperate with my guys so the water bottle was the next step.
