JUST A DOG From time to time people tell me, "Lighten up, it's just a dog," or, "That's a lot of money for just a dog. "They don't understand the distance traveled, time spent, or costs involved for "Just a dog. "Some of my proudest moments have come about with "Just a dog. "Many hours have passed with my only company being "Just a dog," and not once have I felt slighted. Some of my saddest moments were brought about by "Just a dog. "In those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "Just a dog" provided comfort and purpose to overcome the day. If you, too, think it's "Just a dog," you will probably understand phrases like "Just a friend," "Just a sunrise," or "Just a promise."Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. "Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that makes me a better person. Because of "Just a dog" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly into the future. For me and folks like me, it’s not "Just a dog."It's an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. "Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I hope that someday people can understand it's not "Just a dog. "It's the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "Just a man or woman." So the next time you hear the phrase "Just a dog," smile, because they "Just Don't Understand." Author Unknown

How beautiful and so very true.  Libby who is "just our dog" brings so much love and joy to our home and our family.  She calms us down when things get crazy, she gives us unconditional love and goes along with anything we say or do without hesitation, she knows when one of us is not feeling well or down in the dumps and comes to our side for that cuddle or snuggle to make us feel better.  I cannot put into words how much I love her and with each day that love grows.  "Just a dog"?  I'll take one any day:)  Thanks Jill so much for posting this!

Wow! This is a great illustration of how I feel and I know you all do too! Sometimes it is hard to put into words. i will copy this and send it to friends and relatives who just don't get it when I have to cancel plans or decline invitations because I have "just a dog" (actually two) waiting for me and depending on me. That "just a dog" is my best friend and I can't let her down, she never lets me down! Thank you so much for posting this!

So true Lori about "not letting them down"!

Soo true. I dont know what i would do without my creature that people call "just a dog." Some times i wake up in the middle of the night horrified by my nightmare of losing "just a dog." Sadly, i know some people that would say it's just a dog, the world is full of them:( But we can all say that they are wrong and clueless because they have never felt the enjoyment owning " just a dog" can bring you, and that they are missing out on all of the fun

amen... :)

So, so, so true, thanks for sharing that was nice :)

So true! Thanks so much for sharing this!  Dogs are the BEST!!  :>))

I knew you would all love this as much as I do! I'm happy to share this with like-wise minded people!

Just a dog - my dog's are still not "just a dog" even after adding a human baby to our family. Just last night, they were both ignoring me and I had to beg little Tacky to cuddle.  Peri finally settled in also and life was good. Baby was asleep and I had the dogs to myself. My first family :)  They are never "just dogs".

I love this. My doodles are my best friends. Never just dogs. I talk to them about everything and anything. They listen and never answer back. Unlike teenagers and husbands!

JOY - that's what it is!
