Just signed up for pet insurance

After much research, for now, I have insured Cooper at 15 weeks old with Trupanion. I like everything they have to say and I purchased the extra rider to cover hip dysplasia. Did $100 deductible for now and premium is about $37/month.

I like the no lifetime limits. The monthly contract concerns me for price increases, but I will see what happens over the course of the next 6 months.

Mine has paid for itself many times over. My monthly dues are only around $26 per month but knowing we have insurance, is a very nice security blanket. Our deductible is also $50 per visit. We went with VPI. Regardless of what company you went with..any pet insurance is well-worth the cost.

Does VPI cover Hip dysplasia? Also, their limiting language on items they cover through their codes concerns me. In addition, Trupanion has no lifetime limits and also pays 90%. Dedutible is your choice and can be manipulated in increments of $5. I actuallly may go to $50 as the premium only goes up about $3 and 12x3= $36 and if I have one claim in the year, I am saving $14 by lowering my deductible. Math math math.

I went with the same company. And they pay 90% Hope we I never have to use them,but they are there to be of help.. I loved the customer service so far.

I think I read somewhere that when a vet was asked about Pet Insurance he said if you have to think whether you can afford Insurance then you  can't afford Vet fees (or something like that).  I wouldn't contemplate getting a puppy without having it.  I'm going with PetPlan (the choices here are much more limited than the US) the whole of life cover with €100 excess and I will pay yearly and get it out of the way because I hate Direct Debits
