Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Over the last two weeks, I have pulled the strangest things out of Bayley's mouth. (She's 6 months old). 3 dead birds, 1 dead mouse, and today a baby snake. I can't swear she killed everything...One bird I think commited suicide by a kamikase dive into the window. But the one she ate yesterday, I think she did kill. When I went out to see what she was eating, I saw a panicked young dove that didn't have his flying certification trying to hop/fly over the fence. I think that there is a nest in the spruce tree, and the chicks had fledged and couldn't fly well enough to escape Bayley. I'm fairly certain she killed the garter snake, and she is digging a trench across the back yard trying to catch the mole.
I'm thinking there must be some latent terrier in her ancestry. She has been in the chicken yard when the chickens are out, and she has been respectful, but we have been there to check her. I don't think I would trust her to leave them alone if we weren't there.
Does this seem like odd behavior for a doodle?

Stuffed owl?
Ssssssh! Don't tell her! She thinks it's real! :)
LOL!
It's not a Hyster! LOL!
That is the killer owl that invaded our yard some time back. Quite frightening but Tara took care of it!
Actually, (don't tell her) it is a stuffie made by Audubon. They make all kinds of birds fashioned after the actual birds and if you squeeze them they make the appropriate bird sound. It is not a dog toy so she can only play with it under supervision but it is one of her favorites and really brings out the animal in her! LOL!
We love you, Tarabear! Git'em!
haha! I love this picture! the last thing Winston hunted was my red flip flop. He used his soft mouth and punctured 2 canine holes into it.
Doodles are from hunting dogs. Many have a very strong prey drive.
Not a bit odd. Luca and Calla have 2 woodchucks and at least one squirrel on their records. They did bring me a fledgling robin unharmed to their credit.
Monty ignores the rabbits in the yard, he will harass the squirrels at my beckoning. He really wants to take on any water fowl that he has ever seen.
First of all, I think Bayley is absolutely adorable! She reminds me of my Bexter...I love the redheads! It sounds like he's normal to me. Bexter doesn't have this instinct much at all, but my other GD Maggie loves to chase after things. I know she'd kill if she ever got a hold of something!
