I know the answer but Brenna is over 3 now and every now and then she gets dingleberries. I'm not sure if that is the correct word now, but about 3 or 4 times over her life I have to take her outside and get the hardened poo off her hiney.

I guess I need to be more watchful when she comes in from outside, but I'm not always.

I wish they made big hiney wipes for dogs. She was pretty good today and seemed to know I was just trying to clean her up.

Do you all make sure the hair/fur in that area is kept trimmed? Do any of your doodles get these now and then. Not trying to be gross.

I do trim Enzo's hair back there. But in spite of it, it does happen once in a great while. I just grab the butt wipes...and if it proves too big a job for those, into the tub she goes.

I've had success on Truffle's backside using Huggies non-scented baby wipes and I do not trim his hair between grooming sessions.

I trim and also have some pet wipes that I use back there every now and then whenever I notice an issue

Occasionally it happens to my dogs. I do try to keep the hair short arond the perinatal area.

F.,  I think your spell check may have done you in on this post....

Dingleberries are so rare in my dogs.  I tend to attribute it to the way my groomer does the sanitary cut, but I think some dogs crouch down in such a way that they end up with them more easily than others.

Riley is one of "those" crouchers. I just trimmed her tail at the base because it was getting in the poo.

Trimming the hair back there is probably a good idea. If you aren't the one who grooms your pup anyway, it would be a win-win situation. Let someone else deal with that. ;)

We always use baby wipes back there after every poo, regardless. We got into the habit when Lucy was a puppy. I've always trimmed that area quite short, too, which helps a lot.

It's happened to Quincy after a bout or two of diarrhea.  Most time, if the stool is well formed, it's not a problem.

I waited so long to open this discussion for fear it would be ...Kind of Gross  :)

It's not.

Poo Happens and sometimes it sticks. It makes my dog so terribly upset !!!!

Even a dampened kitchen paper towel will do the trick.

:-) Joanne, you made me smile :-) I think this is my new life philosophy:

Poo happens and sometimes it sticks.  Be prepared to clean it quickly because the longer you wait, the harder it will be.
