Has anyone tried laser treatments to heal wounds? Were they successful?
Spud has been in treatments since May, for what started as a spring allergy that quickly turned into cellulitis, again.
What's been done:
The wound will heal with leather-like skin, then abscess underneath. Treatments start all over again.
His Fall allergy season should be here soon and we all want this healed ASAP!
Laser Treatments would need to be done 3-4 times per week.
Thanks for your input
I'm trying to add cell phone images, but honestly, I don't know how anymore :)

Totally what you did not ask, but...I would look for a veterinary dermatologist. Veterinarians tend to be the equivalent of internists and surgeons together. There is so much information, new treatments etc available for animal care, they simply cannot keep up. Cellulitis, hot spots, allergies are all difficult to treat and this seems to be at a point where a specialist would be very helpful. Ohio State has a veterinary dermotolgy specialty and Akron has an animal dermatology clinic. Don't know where this is in relation to you, but one trip at least might really help. In my experience specialists are willing to work with your local vet so you can make less frequent visits to a more distant spot.
This is great advice, Maryann.
Low level laser is used very effectively for wound healing - surgical incisions, ulcers etc etc. But, it would be contraindicated in there was still any active infection.
