I am wondering if it's technically possible to have the latest activity remain for 24 hours by having additional "main" pages after the main page? This thought came up after someone just asked if they missed something. I've thought the same thing at times. Comments, questions, photos all get whisked away to the proper places, groups or personal pages and individuals don't get notified of any updates except for those groups or discussions they "subscribe" to. By having sub-pages the latest activity could remain visible for 24 hours and people would be less likely to miss something of interest. It might also be possible that way to have discussions around in a more visible place a little longer. Any thoughts about this?
Not possible at this time. But I'm often curious about what I 'miss' too =) But as far as discussions go you can view them in the order of latest activity...that helps too.
Off topic, but what about a button like facebook has to "like it" instead of posting a whole comment on someone's blog post, you could just give it a thumbs up to acknowledge that you have read it?
I really like this idea about making more of the latest activity available to viewers. Since the current activity listed on the main page is limited by number of items, not by duration or time, this makes it so sometimes things are only visible for a very short period of time when there has been a lot of activity. I would really like to be able to go to the bottom and click "view all" or "view more" to see what I've missed. I usually get on at least once a day, so 24 hours would be enough to see what activity has occurred since my last visit. Some people don't get on as frequently, maybe days or even weeks in between visits, so they may even want more than the last 24 hours.
