Rosie is very mouthy does not discriminate as to what she puts in her mouth, so this time of year is scary, especially the mushrooms that are in our Lawn. I take her out on the leash now so I can watch her and I try to pick them as much as possible, but yesterday I had a scare with her when she picked one up I thankfully caught her doing it right away and she dropped it...I do not know if they are the poisonus kind or not info on this is very confusing...I am going to a pet shop today and getting her a muzzle, I don't like doing this but it beats the alternative...has anyone else had experience with this kind of thing? Any suggestions on getting her to stop putting anything and everything in her mouth would be most welcomed. Thank you!

Rosie was not having it with the muzzle, but I am going to gate off an area and that way I can easily keep it free from the mushrooms....it's hard sometimes trying to keep our Doodles safe.
We get them, our autumnal flush arrived just about the time we brought our pup home! At that time we had only a small area for her fenced off, but those little patches gave me fits - - I put an old piece of tile over some that kept sprouting and others I just pop. Now the spring flush will be stronger and in the other part of our yard we get certified toadstools, so it's going to keep me on my toes.
We use both 'Leave it' and 'Don't Touch', but there are still instances of an occaisional..... gulp..... a bit of rabbit poo here, a chunk of mulch there, and so I fear the shrooms.
I feel your pain....
Someone in my IBD support group just posted this link. She uses this to prevent her dog from eating anything when they are outdoors and swears by it. Just an idea:
Thank you Karen! I will definitely look into it..and Rosie thanks you too!!!
I went to the website and it looked like it may work so I just ordered one...I definitely will let you all know if it works!!! Thanks again!!!!
Glad to be of help. It was just a coincidence that it was posted in the IBD dogs support group this a.m.
For dogs with IBD, eating anything other than their very restricted diet can cause major flares if not a full-blown crisis. The person who posted it uses it on long off-leash hikes with her IBD dog and says that it prevents her dog from eating anything he might find on the trails, so that's a pretty good endorsement. :-)
I don't believe in coincidence....if this works then this will help a lot of us Doodle Owners out there and I will also take it to my Vet and their Pet Store because I know they do not know about it, I live in a rural area pretty much and we have all kinds of things including fox tails, scissor weed etc., Thanks again!
Hi Karen and Jackdoodle....Yesterday I received the Outfox field Guard and starting using it on Rosie...IT IS AMAZING...IT WORKS!!!! The Outfox Field Guard website was easy to use and they have measuring instructions that are really simple. Of course at first she tried to take it off, but after that she has been great with it, as they suggested I put treats in the bottom of it so it goes on like a feed bag and it is really easy to get on, in fact my other little dogger Deni I think is jealous because he sees me putting treats in this for her and I think he wants one!!! We call it her "Bonnie Hat". Rosie and I cannot thank you enough for telling us about this and I am sure there are other Doodle Owners who may be interested, I am definitely taking it to show my Vet and their Pet Store because I know that do not know about it. THANK YOU!!!!
I'm so glad this worked for you!
Hi Karen andJackdoodle, Wanted to update you on the Outfox Field Guard, once again cannot thank you enough for letting me know about this. As of now my Vet's Pet Store now have them in their store, they were very excited about this product when I told them about it and they contacted the owners of Outfox Field Guard so now they carry them, they also told me that the owners were super nice and the owner's even told them they would drive down to do a demonstration for them...it is a long drive..at least a 5 hour drive so that was very nice of them.
That's such good news! Thanks for letting me know!
