Hello Friends, my daughter is taking her two pups to the beach next month and is looking for any info on leashes that do not end up having to be tossed because they stink after the brink.

Any of you beach going doodle parents have a good suggestion?

Thanks everyone who does.

We just use regular nylon ones. They get stiff and dirty from the salt water and sand so I just dunk them in cold water and rinse with soap after. They dry back to normal

I have a 30' cotton leash.  I can just put it in the washing machine and hang up to dry.  I don't use a nylon one because if your pup takes off running you can get a nasty leash burn on your hand...

You can get them at most pet retail stores. This is the one that I got...

We bought hydro i.e. water collars for the dogs and I LOVE them.  They never stink or mold, yet look stylish. We got ours at http://www.hotdogsalldressed.com/index.php?option=com_content&v...

We got 'plastic' pet i.d. tags from Lucky pet tags and printed the information on both sides of the one tag.

What are these made of?  Do they feel like vinyl or plastic?

Lisa,

Stop in  Kieffer Marine, here in Portage Lakes.  She carries collars and leashes that were water proof or resistant.  I saw them last week.   I think they ran about $18.00 with  nautical themes: anchors, pirates, boats.  Looks as if they dried right away or really never got wet. Gortex maybe?

Take 224 to Main Street ( south ) then to Portage Lakes Drive.  Easy find and its pretty out here this time of year.

Here are some at Wags.com

NO STINK WATERPROOF COLLARS

But these dont look like they feel very nice  :(

And Gun Dogs have them also. Of course.

I have these and the only issue I have with them is that they come folded up and the folds are hard to straighten out. Which really doesn't bother them - they are only for the water and once they are dry out comes their nice collars.

I got the collars from dogids.com that have the id attached to the collar with no jangling. They are great. All we are using for leashes on the beach are nylon slip collars that you can get from the vet for a dollar (or for free sometimes). They rinse easily and are all we need to manage the doodles until we hit the shore and it's all about fetching!

Thank you everyone for all your help. I have passed on your answers to the kiddo, hopefully they get what they need.
