Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be asking THIS question....hahaha...what, if anything, can I give my "Coco" to reduce/eliminate the AWFUL smell of his flatulence/gas and/or poop???   The gas is most times the worst....  I call them the 'green mistys', cuz they almost make my eyes water...hahaha    Is there a supplement to give....or a particular food to avoid?  An herb to add to food (parsley in humans reduces bad breath).....HELP!!

It may be his food.   Banjo was a little stinker on Chicken Soup and is a wonderful house mate on Taste of the Wild.   A world of difference.   You may have to experiment....gradually switching over to a different food and keep him on it for a while to see if things "clear up".

I've never heard of those two brands.....he was introduced to Pedigree as soon as he was introduced to solid food.....he acted like he was getting bored with it, so I asked the vet and they told me adding 1/3 of a can of wet food wouldn't hurt....   He eats very FEW table scraps (my guilty fault).....  I guess I'll have to keep experimenting, cuz this makes for stinky couch-partner....hahahaha

Bobbi, If you haven't already, you may want to join the Food Group.  There is a wealth of information there.  Pedigree is probably the cause of his problem.

I would agree it could be his food. What are you feeding?

However, some dogs are more gassy - my MILs dog, an akbash, eats the same kibble as Cooper, but is really stinky now and then, whereas Cooper very rarely gets gas (she prefers to burp in tour face!).

hahahahaha  I know that's not funny, but it caught me by surprize....hahaha   I'd rather have a burp from Coco, if I had my choice over the 2 of them!  ;-)

I think the amount of gas can be changed by a food but the stink I think just goes along with having a dog.  In other words you could probably reduce the gas but you can't make them smell gooooood :)

I am pretty certain it's his food. There are so many wonderful foods to choose from in the Food Group.

FYI, my Daisy is a bit stinky herself if I give her Chicken jerky to often....it's not awful awful and she loves these homemade treats so much I am willing to put up with it. It's really okay unless we are at work I am always blaming the dog, people are starting to question that I think LOL

Murphy and Wilson both eat the same food and Wilson has the worst gas ever...Murphy wouldn't even dream of letting a fart...LOL....so I am not convinced it is just the food.  I feel your pain Bobbi...Wilson can clear a room with his "vapor".

PROZYME! It's a probiotic that I bought at a boutique pet shop but I think I've seen it online too. I worked magic with the stinkers at my house.

Kona is now on a limited ingredient grain-free food but even when we started that new food, he was making our eyes water without the Prozyme. We don't use have to use it anymore. We do have an occasional stinker shock, but rarely.

We give Cosmo yoghurt--about 1 tablespoon of plain, lowfat yoghurt with active cultures on top of his kibble.

Most likely it is the food or treats.  First eliminate all treats because that would be an easy fix.  You need to know that switching foods around, feeding  table scraps, etc can cause gas. Be sure to feed a high quality food - check out the list in the food group. There are both grain free and grained foods on the list. We found that when we switched our boys to grain free - after the settling in which was a heavy gas time - they don't have serious gas any more.  For us, Taste of the Wild is a good choice.

When we switched Riley to Orijen which is grain free we had a month of the smelliest farts on the planet and he did them under our bed every single night and in the car!  As I knew the food was a good one we stuck it out and he rarely does it now. I really think you should go to the food group and first off make sure you are feeding a good food.
