Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Let's think outside the box, those of you who assist with rescue may be especially insightful with this? But all opinions WELCOME

If you have been on in the last 20 hours or so you have read about Libby doodle.  Everyone is tired and beside themselves, we need fresh perspective.  Please fire away with your suggestions for luring Libby.  I am thinking that perhaps those that have experience with rescue may have some pointers we may not have thought of because most often we do not deal with our doodles being fearful.  Here is a link to the original post if you wish to follow the updates

Has anyone tried using another dog as a lure? Wander in the area with a well trained dog off leash, maybe Libby will come out to play? The mom would be idea, but you may not have access to her.
I had one of her housemates, Paris, there all day yesterday and that didn't bring her out. Dianne took Micah, Libby's Dad, down there last night and they are leaving his scent all over the place leading to Maureen's house. Dianne had to go back but she left Micah with Maureen and they have been out all morning searching. Please keep all fingers and paws crossed!
We are prepared to return with the children and another of her favorite companions. Jennifer wanted me to return with her when I picked her up just after 1 am! We have a pup in surgery today so today though absent in our physical presence we are mighty in our spiritual presence and thankful to all who are helping to stand in the gap physically, emotionally and spiritually. As indicated Micah remains with Maureen and is out with her this morning. I am hopeful that in addition to Micah's scents that Libby also detects that I have been there. Jennifer and I are also both on standby to call to her via speaker phone on the cell phone. Keep the ideas rolling everyone, told you our brains are tired and you have all pointed out some very good plans.
Starlit, heaven forbid she got loose would be very difficult to catch because she spooks easily--but she WILL go to any other dog!

I say we all go to Florida with our doodles today! Doodles love doodles and this is a GREAT IDEA.

A suggestion for when she is caught and I know she will be because of all of you wonderful people...... keep a harness on her for a long while. All three of my fosters could get out of collars, and Lacey could get out of a rescue collar. I swear I had 3 latches on them for a few weeks. Starlit, as I said above has a harness on when we are out and about. She will pull out of the collar and bolt.

My heart is out here for you all.
She's HOME! Oh well, there goes my excuse to come to Florida :( but this is better anyway.
Too hot, lets go look for north pole doodles.
Dianne, I know this might sound hokey, but Bisbee reacts to children playing (and I think it's because of Nick and Jennifer) he becomes very curious and wants to go check them out.... just a thought...not as scary (maybe) as adult people chasing after you...
YES to the other dog as a lure. Peri's harness broke at 6 months and she was running through our parking lot. I swear, she would have run to the busy street, but instead, one of my neighbor's dog came outside for his morning walk and I told the owner to let Peri approach the dog. She stopped and rolled over. That is how I got her back.

Also, tell the people to NOT chase after her if they find her. Tell them to run in the opposite direction and talk in a playful, high pitched voice. My trainer told us about this.
What a great idea to run away instead of towards, thank you!
Does she like to go for rides? "Let's go for a ride" clap hands, any "key phrases" that make her want to check out what's up, does she fetch a ball? Favorite toys.... Play "loudly" with Micah.... playing a game, hambuger, favorite treats, kids ..... just more thoughts...
Does animal control in the area have any live animal traps for racoons, etc.. Might not be the most warm fuzzy way to catch Libby, but she must be hungry and they may be able to trap her without harm.
Todd, I was thinking the same thing. It may be the quickest and most humane way to catch her. Since she has been seen in Maureen's yard the trap could be set up there and easily watched.
