Well, I took a chance and ordered the liver treats ignoring the good advice I received here on DK to avoid them due to the potential of serious side effects:

Ingredients: Natural bison liver.

WARNING! Upon feeding Paw Naturaw natural bison liver chips your dogs may learn to open kitchen drawers and cabinet doors or crack combination locks in search of more.

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS: After feeding Paw Naturaw bison liver chips you may notice a dramatic spike in your dog's TWPM (tail wags per minute). An increase of up to 200 TWPM is not uncommon and need not be cause for alarm. TWPM will gradually and organically reduce in rapidity over time.

FYI, dogs fed Paw Naturaw organic bison liver chips may develop mind-reading capabilities. After feeding your dog its first Paw Naturaw treat it may arise to no surprise that with each treat thereafter your dog may embark into old and new tricks seconds before you speak the command aloud in an attempt to speed along the process.

The treats arrived today. Tara had one taste and unfortunately suffered an immediate side effect. One not even mentioned on the label. . At the age of three, Tara has NEVER torn up paper that she finds on the floor. I can leave or drop any paper on the floor and never be concerned that she will tear it up. WELL, below is the evidence of this serious side effect and what is left of the envelope the treats arrived in today. And you can see there is NO regret showing on her face which is very troubling.

I should have listened to you my friends...

No doubt. Owen has already perfected the "Is this the trick you want?" performance before a request is made to hurry along the treat doling out process.

LOL Bonnie! Years ago I had 2 dogs (at the same time) that put on the performance prior to my request too. It got to where all I had to say to them was "What do puppies do?" And they would go through all their tricks!

That's the ticket! The neighbor's dog was the intruder!

Ooops, I should have sent that info straight to JD. Oh well, he probably would've had to disclose it anyway.

hahahaha!!!

Sure you laugh now! But this could happen to Parker Pup someday! All it takes is the wrong treat!

Tara is totally innocent, there is obviously something very powerful in these treats to have caused her to loose her mind for a few minutes and behave in such unusual behavior ( for her, that is) I would plead temporary insanity Tara, and that you were acting under the influence of bison liver treats. Your mommy will have to start you out slower with these treats as one whole one is a bit too much for you to handle just yet.

Good, good! Great idea! Blame the treats! The Twinkie Defense! You guys are making JD's job easy!

Does that mean Tara will get a partial refund on her bribe retainer?

Well, there are still all those filing and court costs, and of course you do need a Doodle-at-Law who is polished and skillful enough to present a convincing lie defense to the judge. That doesn't come cheap, you know.

But we can talk. My mom won't give me anything good to eat any more. Perhaps something could be worked out...

That sounds fair. I have access to some great Bison Liver treats. That is I will as soon as I can find where my mom hid them.  But if they're in the fridge we're in trouble cause I can't reach the handle!

Sue, I might even buy this defense idea! Temporary insanity due to Bison Liver Treat overdose! I'll have JD check to see if there are a legal precedent for it!  In the meantime I will back off on the treats. Let's see, she only had ONE so that means now she gets...hmmm....
