I walked into the bedroom tonight to get ready for bed and who do I see snuggling with my husband...?

What is this world coming to?  She's still there as I type.  She also visits him when he's in the bathroom and none else would dare enter.

For many reasons, it's just not the same if you had a human who did all those things. For one, If I had the same sanitary standards, or lack thereof, I don't guess I'd mind at all. And if not, Yes, I seriously doubt i'd be inviting them into my bed.

But mud brushes off dogs easily, they clean themselves after urinating, they don't stink like humans who don't shower and by the time they've run all over the house, their shoes, paws are pretty clean already. I vote for all doodles belonging in beds with their owners!!!! (They are great foot warmers too) lol

Amen to that, Sue!  :-)  In fact, Winnie's favorite place to clean herself is ON our bed.

After we are done snuggling, every morning she has a grooming ritual: She takes care of her "lady parts," spiffs up her rear end, and then makes sure that her ears are OK by doing the "scratch and sniff" test. Combine that with a few yoga stretches and she is ready for the day!  :-)

Okay, see, I could not handle watching my dog clean herself ON my bed.  That needs to happen on HER bed.

Fussy, fussy.

Teehee.

Haha! I don't exactly lay there and watch her do it... I just hear it happening. Which IS kinda gross sometimes. :-)  If she get's extra diligent, I give her a nudge and tell her, "It's clean, Winnie, it's clean... clean as a whistle... now close it up!"

This discussion is so hilarious! It makes me think of my mom who maintains a spotless house and even goes as far as not putting her purse on the kitchen counter because "who knows what is on the bottom of my purse!" She is vehemently opposed to letting ANY dog, even her beloved Casey, lick her on the face. Because, as she somehow believes, the dog retains urethral/vaginal/anal germs in it's mouth. BUT, she has no problem letting her beloved Casey (who has a fair amount of doggy odor) get in bed with her. Under the covers....  :-)

Get one of those sleep masks :)

Rosco has never ever reached his bottom for cleaning.  Ever.  He doesn't even try.  And whatever he does to his little urinator, doesn't address the pee that most likely ends up splashing onto his back legs or that he might step in if it's a big enough puddle and he gets distracted.  I am not saying this to say "eeewww why would anyone let their dogs onto the furniture" but to say why I don't :-D  I really am not bothered by other people and what they let their dogs do.  My dogs must be dirtier than average because I have never given them a bath and NOT seen brown water run off of them.  My house is usually a mess...I'm a horrible housekeeper, so it's not because I'm such a clean freak.  But even cleanliness aside, one human in my bed is the perfect amount of other things in my bed.  Anymore is too many and I love having the full width of my bed when I'm alone.  About the foot warmer thing...do people let their dogs lay ON their feet or how do they warm without squashing?

I know you have been very diligent in keeping your dogs off furniture and beds.  Guess they, or at least Boca, have other ideas! :-}  Love this!  Footwarmer info:   dog not on your feet, just beside them and if you push them, they move - that has been my experience with my dogs, however when we dog sit and have my dd or ds dog(s) the ones on the bed do not move when nudged.

Mine would NOT move.  And there's no room at the foot of my bed, I like to sleep with my feet hanging off the edge...lol :-)

:-}

OMD, this discussion is hilarious!  Beasley is the dog who does not mind what she lays on, so she'll lay right on my feet (I'm not a fan but I might let her stay there a few minutes).  If I nudge her she just looks at me blankly, so I usually have to push her out of the way.  If you so much as touch Eloise with an under-covers foot (she's on top of the covers), she flies up and off the bed instantly.  Like she's been bitten.  If I have my foot hanging off the bed, Beasley will lick it - so I now keep my feet under the covers.  :)
