My sister is on the hunt for a female doodle. She has been trying shelters and not quite finding the one for her. If you could send any suggestions my way that would be great! We are in Orange County, CA. The major criteria is that it they want a Female.

We are not allowed to sell pups or recommend breeders here on the forum...but if you click on "help" at the top of the page, there is a section on finding a breeder--doodles are often taken out of shelters quickly, either by doodle rescue organizations like Doodle rescue collective or by people looking for a great dog!

Here's the link to the information on Finding  a Breeder that Ginny mentioned:

Thanks, I wasn't necessarily asking for a breeder. We were hoping to find one that needed rehoming.

The So Cal kill shelters are overflowing with small poodle mixes; DRC gets easily a dozen messages a week about some doodle in some kill shelter in Southern California. There's a gorgeous 10 week old female doodle puppy at Devore right now. They post their listings on Pet Harbor.

Karen,

I am aware, and we have continued to look at closer shelters. Thank you for the reference. I was recently on a DRC list to help pick one up from a local shelter but she went back to her owner at the last minute :(

Do you have the link? I can't find her.

LOL, Hi Marci, didn't realize you were that Marci! I'm sending you a PM now.

Keep trying.  You will find what you want.  Many doodles and doodle mixes down in SoCal.  Doodles are getting smaller as most people keep them in the home and may be gone for at least part of the day.  Best bet - local shelters and DRC.
