Hello, just got this from our Annapolis doodle group and I thought I would put it on here. The craigslist posting is for two doodles found in Millersville MD. Hopefully they are reunited with their owners very soon!
Joanne, if it's a private party who found them and is posting them, they might very well be microchipped, but the idiot CL person wouldn't be able to tell that. I'm sure they think they're helping the dogs, but they only complicated their lives and delayed reuniting them with their owners, if that's the case. Somebody needs to tell this person to take them to a vet & have them scanned.
Who is this that found the dogs? A private party or a rescue/shelter? If a private party, what a stupid way to try to find their owners, on Craig's List. Has anyone contacted this poster?
And doesn't it seem strange that there would be two stray doodles together?
I hate Craig's list...half the stuff on there is a scam.
Lisa the head of the Annapolis group has contacted the posters. She asked them to contact her if the owners don't come forward so their group can work on finding a rescue group or homes for them so they don't end up in a shelter.
My son saw this little dog in the orange groves for several days and thought it belonged to an RV parked there. On Friday - no RV, and little dog followed him to the car. He couldn't leave it there by itself so he brought it home. My D and my DIL both volunteer at our humane society. They took the dog there and it was health checked, given shots. - no microchip, no tags, but this dog had been cared for - well-fed, nails trimmed, fur not matted. The humane society currently is full so my D is fostering the dog until the humane society has room. In the meantime THEY DID post on Craig's list, as well as put up signs. The poor thing was probably dumped because no one has responded, but I just wanted to say that Craig's List was just one avenue that my kids used.
Okay, let's hope this person was as responsible as your kids, and also had the dog checked for a chip and contacted the humane society. Maybe the humane society also has your foster grand-dog listed on their website. And if the owners are looking for their dog, they would most likely call the humane society and every other shelter. The dog has a much greater chance of being found.
I just keep thinking, if my dog were lost, the last place in the world I would ever look for him is on Craig's List.
I would call all the animal control depts in every neighboring town, the police, all the shelters and rescues, vets' offices, etc., but if Craig's List was the only place he was listed, I would never find him.
I don't have any other information other than what is in the posting. I emailed the poster to get additional information. It may be a scam but I thought it was worth posting in case somebody really lost their dogs.
