Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We are vacationing in Seacrest Beach near Panama City Beach FL. The family upstairs lost their doodle last night. (New Year's Eve). They are heartbroken, but have to return home today. They have posted flyers with their phone number in the area.

His name is Cooper, and is a black 4yr old Labradoodle weighing about 32 lbs. He is microchipped, but has no tags on his collar.

We will be in the area for the winter, and have told the family that we will continue to look for Cooper. They left his blanket and one of his toys in front of our door to possibly attract him to us.

They left their contact info with the emergency vet in Panama City.

Is there anything else that we should do? We drove around the neighborhood and spoke to people who were out and gave them the phone number.

Thanks for any help. We feel so bad for this family.

I feel bad for the dog

Has the info been posted in all of the appropriate FB groups? Lost & Found Dogs for the area, etc?

Have the police in all towns & jurisdictions that are adjacent to the area been contacted? The local shelters and animal control departments? That's crucial.

I sure hope he is found safe.

We feel bad for Cooper and his family. We posted on 2 lost dog sites on FB, and we forwarded the info to the family about contacting the police etc.

We are praying that he is found soon and we can get him back to his family. They are devastated. They stuck around as long as they could, but had to get back to work and school.

Have them leave some of their clothes so he can smell them as well.  Flood the area with flyers because not everyone is on  FB. I would stand outside of the grocery store and hand out flyers as well...  he probably has t gone to far and hopefully no one has picked him up.

If you get sightings of him, please let me know.  I can give you info on how to trap him, humanely of course..

you can can contact me at eburke8918@aol.com or on FB at elizabeth hartschlag burke.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, the owners have already left to go home. We are hoping that someone has him and is waiting for the vets or shelters to open tomorrow to call. We thought someone had spotted him this afternoon, but it was the wrong dog.

I just looked up Seacrest Beach and it is not near Panama City. Its farther south near Cocoa Beach. Is there another Seacrest Beach?

I replied to this on my e-mail, but I don't think it made it here.

The condos are called Capistrano. The address is 8682 E. County Hwy 30-A, Seacrest Beach FL 32413. It's by Rosemary Beach, Santa Rosa Beach and Panama City Beach (which is west of Panama City)

No, you do have to respond here. The emails are just "read only". I did look up the address. I was hoping it was the other Seacrest Beach as this one is even farther from me, about 5 hours away. Do you know if the dog is microchipped? His biggest problem right now is the unusual freezing cold weather we are having. He may also have been frightened by all the fireworks last night that will no doubt continue tonight and for a while. Is his family planning to come back at some point? You will need "fresh" dirty clothes to put out. Hopefully he will remain close and it wouldn't hurt to set up some food and water next to where you have placed the clothing. I don't know what they left but if he was there for any length of time, it wouldn't hurt to put out some of their clothes near the door where he was staying.

The longer he is missing, the more scared he will become and may even become "feral". That means he will avoid any humans screaming out his name. If he is sighted, Its best to sit down on the ground, avoiding eye contact, have some smelly treats and talk softly. Let him come to you and don't try to grab him too fast or he may just run off again.

Karin, there is a pet detective that might be able to help. I don't know what the rates are as her info was given to me by another Doodle owner. I just know that if it were my dog, I would be willing to try just about anything!

You can also list him with https://www.pawboost.com to get fliers to every vet in the area. Look for him on findingfido.com as well as petfinder.com. Is there anyone who can keep checking the local shelters?

Thanks. I'll let the owners know. They are coming back today. They said they couldn't stay away.

I'm very glad to hear this.

So are we.
