Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
We are vacationing in Seacrest Beach near Panama City Beach FL. The family upstairs lost their doodle last night. (New Year's Eve). They are heartbroken, but have to return home today. They have posted flyers with their phone number in the area.
His name is Cooper, and is a black 4yr old Labradoodle weighing about 32 lbs. He is microchipped, but has no tags on his collar.
We will be in the area for the winter, and have told the family that we will continue to look for Cooper. They left his blanket and one of his toys in front of our door to possibly attract him to us.
They left their contact info with the emergency vet in Panama City.
Is there anything else that we should do? We drove around the neighborhood and spoke to people who were out and gave them the phone number.
Thanks for any help. We feel so bad for this family.

If and when you have any news on Cooper, will you please let us know? I just hate thinking of him out there cold, alone, scared, and confused. It just breaks my heart.
Apparently the FB site "I love my Labradoodle" has people who are organizing a search party!
I'm a member of that group and don't see a post about that. But I'm glad they are.
I'm glad they are too. I have no idea how people even begin to go about looking for one little dog in a big city. I know people find them, but it seems impossible.
Elizabeth and Lori are pros at finding and saving lost doodles. It's a shame this one isn't closer to them. :)
I have my fingers and toes crossed that the experts have good luck. I can't even find my keys in my tiny little house, so even if I was closer I don't think I would be the right person for the job.
We received a multiple txt this morning. There is a group in the area looking and posting signs. We were out there looking and talking to people and some people had already heard.
I will. Hopefully he will be found soon.
I hope they find poor little Cooper!!! He must be so cold and scared!!! This should also serve as a reminder to everyone to always have a dog tag with your phone number- it dramatically increases the odds of someone returning your dog to you.
He is chipped though, but I agree. Zoe has our info on a tag and she is also chipped.
I was going to say that I wouldn't rely on a chip by itself to get my dogs home, especially if someone doesn't have a vested interest in giving the dog back. But then I realized that the same could be said for tags. But I still think that it's easier for a good samaritan to call a number that the dog is wearing instead of having to take a strange dog to the vet to be scanned.
I hate jingly tags. That sound drives me crazy. So I found (actually, someone on DK found for me) a collar tag that fits on the collar itself. No more jingling. The girls always have their identification ready and available. And I pray no one ever needs to use it.
