to see my dad. She is not therapy cert. yet, but our hosp. will allow visit by pets if on a leash. She was on her perfect behavior. Everyone, from nurses to doctors to nurse aides etc., just oooed and awwwed over her. After visiting my dad I took her down the hall to the next unit and family members were asking me to take her in to see patients. What joy she brought to many. I just loved it. We then left the hosp. and went to our local dog club which meets once a month. It was sooooo much fun. We did obedience and agility. I will confess that I have not been working Lucy over the past few months, but she was great. She has never been introduced to agility, we just started out with jumps, and she loved it and did really well. I can't wait until next month as we are going to be doing more agility and rally.

We hope that your Dad recovers fine.

When I had a knee replacement, the rehab facility had a yard in which dogs could visit their people. It really pumped up my morale to see Sara Lee (our big dog which we lost to cancer) come up to kiss me. I really miss all my animals whenever we are away from them. That is why we have a motorhome - so we can travel with out dogs...
Someday when I retire, we want to buy a RV so we can take Lucy with us everywhere. We would like to go to Florida in the winter and then back here in the summer. We live in Pa.
Sounds like Lucy made everyone's day! Did she do okay with all the sick people? Oski seems to be able to tell when we're not feeling well (my DH had emergent surgery on his hand a few weeks ago from a wine bottle freak accident & Oski was especially care around him) & will lick us (he usually doesn't do this). Just wondering :)
Lucy was great !!! She is a licker anyway and only licked my dad. Everyone else she just would sit there and let them pet her. I was amazed.
***PHEW*** When I read the title I feared that LUCY was SICK! Thank goodness it was a wonderful story of how she brought joy to someone IN the hospital =)
That is wonderful :) I am hoping this summer I can take Bear to get trained to become a Therapy Dog. I would really like to take him to the local Children's Hospital (which they have a Doggie Brigade) and nursing homes.

I think it is wonderful :)
Lucy is not certified YET, but that is my goal. Working on it. Just took the opportunity to do a little experiment with her when my dad was in. These doodles are just great. They really love people and love making people happy.
Oh Lucy.....what a wonderful doodle your are!
That's so great. I need to check with our hospital about that. Halas has his CGC, but we haven't gone any further than that yet. Doodles are so great at making people smile!
