Some of you MAY remember when I started a discussion in April about Lyric entering an "obedience class from hell"--I am happy to report that we have all been hard at work since then and all but one of the dogs has hung in there and passed the Canine Good Citizen test. A few of the dogs still have certain issues and will not go on to Therapy Dog class, but their owners now have a much better handle on how to control them. Lyric was very good from the beginning and just ignored all the silliness of her classmates. Now on to Therapy dog class!
My other doodle, Mattie, is in an Introduction to agility class and loves it--so the girls are keeping me busy!
Thanks to all--My trainer "raised the bar" and did more on the test than she needed to, so Lyric is close to ready for TDI certification (Therpay dog international). We plan to have two training sessions, then schedule the test.
I looked up the Delta Society as well and they have evaluations within a two hour drive of my home. There is one in November. I will look into that! Ilike the fact that the human is also traiined since I know very little about nursing homes etc and what the protocol is.
