Marlowe and Parvo

This morning our fifteen-week-old Goldendoodle Marlowe tested positive for the Parvovirus.  She had already been vaccinated and given her first booster shot and she never leaves our yard, but she still managed to get sick.  Our vet said we were his fifth case this week.  She's currently at the vet on an IV and we are hoping she pulls through this.  :( Please keep our baby in your thoughts!

How terrible.   I hope Marlowe gets over this nasty disease quickly. Do you have other dogs in your household?  Has the vet given instruction on clean-up?

We have FIVE DOGS total, which is crazy and so stressful, especially with something as contagious as Parvo.  Basically only Bleach can kill it indoors, and it can live in our yard for up to a year.  I've already started a deep-cleaning and will spray a 1:15 mixture in the front and back yards when the rain stops tomorrow.  I've already told our neighbors about the outbreak because we are the third in our neighborhood to have a dog test positive.  We took all of our pups to the vet this morning and gave them another booster shot just to give them extra protection, even though they were all up-to-date.  Marlowe also had somehow gotten worms, which none of the other dogs had, which contributed to her compromised immune system.  That may have made all the difference in her being infected and not the others; they may have been exposed and their immune systems been strong enough to fend it off.  It's kind of a wait-and-see now.  We have to watch the dogs closely for any signs of lethargy or bloody stools.  In the meantime I'm cleaning everything I can! <3
