Truman is,all of a sudden, matting really badly. He also sheds a lot! Is he going through a coat change, or is this just a normal age to begin matting? He sheds so much that we have never had to worry about is before. Any advice or tricks to get these out would be great!

Check out the grooming group.  I have found a LOT of useful info in past discussions there.  There are several past discussions on the dreaded coat change that you might find helpful.  I can't remember if there are any that deal with matting and shedding, but be sure to take a look.  If you can't find anything, post your question in the Grooming group and hopefully someone will have some info for you.

I think that in the past, people with more experience than I have indicated that the coat can change until 2 yrs old...but usually the coat change is over by 18 months and occurs more in the 10-16 month range. However, this cold be a seasonal change that is more like a Golden retriever would go thru--your pup is a goldendoodle, no? Maybe a groomer would be able to tell you what to expect if he has more of a GR coat then a poodle coat.
