First, poor Luca suffered a broken tail and eventually had to have part of it surgically removed as the result of a visit to the groomer. :(

Then I saw this story & video about a groomer beating and abusing dogs she was being paid to groom:

Now, the worst story yet: A dog who died after being thrown against a wall by a groomer at the vet's office!!!!

I'm afraid to leave JD anywhere at this point.

What I can't figure out is why anyone who could do things like this to a helpless dog chose a profession where they spend their days working with dogs.

Dog-friendly limo!  Now that's a great idea!

P.S. That new screen name looks excellent, Jay!

Thanks Karen!

This is so disgusting. It makes me wonder too, about people who work in these fields yet act like they hate animals. I will also say that having applied at many grooming shops, and shopped around, so many of the groomers are really unprofessional and honestly a bit crazy. I wonder why it's so hard to find a sane, moral person in that field? I wish there were more.

OMGosh this just makes me sick to my stomach!

I know, Lonnie, me too. After I saw that video with that poor dog trapped on that table while she hit him with that brush, I couldn't get it out of my mind.

I have been in tears since reading it!   I just do not know how someone can do that!  I trust my groomer and she loves Libby, but that video just tells another story that is so awful.

The groomer that I really loved and trusted moved and is at another shop too far away to be practical for me. (JD needed weekly baths in the past for his allergy flares.) I have no reason to distrust his current groomer, but she doesn't give me warm fuzzies, either. Maybe I need to shop around a little bit.

Gavin de Becker writes about this, and I totally agree. I think I might look into a mobile groomer for now. At least I wouldn't have to leave him anywhere.

Doesn't Penny use a mobile groomer for Comiskey?

I'm not sure but I'll ask her. Good idea!

I once tried one with Calla. After two hours she managed to get her bathed and I thought she was done when she came to the door. I told her Calla had had enough, paid her $70, I think and trimmed her myself another time I think it may work well for small dogs but not so well for us.
