Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi Doodle Friends,
I have a friend who's Australian Labradoodle was diagnosed with Megaesophagus. He's not even a year and a half old. Has anyone else heard or dealt with this and their doodle? It is just awful and she is so stressed about everything. If you know of anything that might help her, please let me know.
Thanks so much,
Sarah

Sarah, I know nothing about this disease other than what I have read in discussions on this site. If you type in Megaesophagus at the top right hand side of the main page in the box marked "search Doodlekisses.com", you will find discussions that could be helpful. I'm sure others will respond here, but if you are anxious for an answer that's where you could do some research. I hope your friend's dog is able to have a good life with help. As I understand it there are different degrees of seriousness and some methods to help the dog eat and drink by holding it upright. Hoping for the best.
Thanks so much, I see the other discussions. I've suggested she join this site for more information and support.
There are some members here who have had dogs or currently have dogs with MegaE, and I'm sur ethey would be happy to share their experience with your friend.
Here's a link to the page of a member who currently has two doodles with megaesophagus and who is active in support groups for the disease. I'm sure she would welcome your friend's reaching out to her: http://www.doodlekisses.com/profile/Kate168?xg_source=profiles_frie...
I am sorry to say that one of our members who had an ME pup just lost him a month ago after numerous bouts of aspiration pnuemonia--but he did have other health issues that were not helping matters--I hope your friend finds the support this site will provide helpful and that her dog has a good, long life....
The bright side for my friend is that she will be getting one of the pups my LD just gave birth to--so I am very happy that they are starting over with a healthy pup.
I just saw this on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/baileychairs4dogs
Sarah - you came to the right place. Have your friend join and talk to Kate - hopefully your friend's pup will live a long and happy life!
The Bailey chairs are awesome. My friend has been trying to buy one, but they are not sold anywhere. I think she is attempting to make one for her dog.
Many thanks! Just sent her off an email with the info!
Kate that chair is gorgeous.
My neighbor's dog, who is Golden/Lab mix suffers from this. I am amazed at the amt. of care these poor guys need. I know she belongs to a FB page for it. I will go look it up and post it here.
