Michael Vick Wants To Own A Dog Again?

I believe people can change and redeem themselves... but I hate the thought of this guy having ownership of a dog, ever. How do you all feel about it?

Not that I want to defend Vick but check out this article. The writer of the one you posted is a typical PFT Mike Florio article. He only includes parts of statements and such to make it read how he wants. The article on NFL.com goes into more details. His ban is only until his probation is up, not lifetime. Also one reason he would like to get a dog is he says his children keep asking if they can have a pet, but he knows he's not allowed.

It looks like he can "own" a dog again sometime in 2012. :(

I have read conflicting things on this, lifetime ban versus 3 years.

I think it is " I want what I  can  not have" syndrome.  Athletes, successful athletes have been coddled most of their lives.  Many--MOST have entitlement issues.   Often during the adolescent years,  they are not punished like other children.  Coaches, parents, teachers, society  get them out of tickets, drug crimes, theft, assaults and rapes on college campuses, drinking and drugging and all other offenses.  You know what I am talking about.........In my work I see it everyday.   Many are just plain spoiled.

So now someone says, " You may not have this one thing in your life"

 

Whether this will help him or not I think this one thing should always be out of his reach. I gave this a lot of thought.  Yes, it may help.  But, why should we see IF it may help?   For some things, it is not forgiveness issue.  You can not take BACK what you say and what you do in life.

 

If he wants to establish a relationship with a dog, then volunteer at the dog shelters to walk dogs.  Give money to those who seek an education in dog therapy for rehab.  Establish a school for trainers.  Buy a ranch, open a spay or neuter clinic.................... there are so many things animals need right now--ownership is only one of those needs.

If I misuse my gun I may NOT own one again.  If I drink and drive I many not drive a car.  A CAR will not help me NOT drink.  So why should I get my car back....I thought of all these.......... Nothing compares here.

 

So I finally came to my decision.  It took me a few days.. I tend to forgive to easy.  I usually weigh on the positive.  So I was for this... then I thought of the mindset of the college athletes I have met  ( many--not all ).   My answer is no.  You many not have this one.  This one is NOT EASY for you.   You can not get out of this part of your punishment.   If you feel this strongly use your spoiled monies on doing more good for animals.  I don't care what he wants!!!   It is what he did.  He did....................
