Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello! We just picked up our girl on June 18. We had believed that her father was a red standard poodle and were not told until she was 6 weeks old that the dad was actually a golden retriever. I think the breeder did not realize this at first either. Mom is a F1 English cream goldendoodle. We were disappointed to hear that we were not getting the F1B that we had planned on but were too in love to back out. I had wanted an F1B due to allergies and the less likely shedding. We love her though, she's beautiful. I'm very curious to see what she will look like and if she will have doodle characteristics. Does anyone know what generation this makes her? I'm assuming since she is more golden retriever tha she has a much higher chance of shedding. Also I'm pretty sure I see evidence to of a subtle bears so I hope this means she will have a 'doodle' appearance! What do you think?

Wow Anne, his puppy pic is very similar to Penny! Same color too! Did he get darker as an adult? Penny's ears are darker and I was wondering if that will be her color as an adult. Would you say the shedding is as much as a golden retriever?

Haleys ears are darker as are other parts of him.  At one time I thought he was turning redish all over but he has the blond "highlights".  I have never really been around a golden retriever but understand that they are real shedders and I don't think Haley sheds that much.

Sorry that you were misled, so much goes into our deciding on a breeder and then the litter or THE ONE!!!  Since you already love her, there is no turning back and you will eventually love whatever it is about her that makes her unique. I personally love the look of Jack and other long haired shaggy doodles and being as I have one that sheds (very little) and one that doesn't, I can tell you the time and energy in keeping the non shedding one matt free is costly and sometimes just uncomfortable for him and me!  He hates being brushed and there is an absolute limit to how long he can get before he is one big matt everywhere.

THe shedder, she can be 4-6 inches long if I let her and there are no matts!  So there are pro's and con's to each. I believe you were given exactly the dog that the dog universe wanted to send you and you will not even care about her coat in a few months.  Just a guess......

Yes she is loved no matter what. She is beautiful and very sweet. My kids are so in love with her and will enjoy growing up with her.
So Penny's facial hair is definitely growing in and I've been trying to put my finger on what seems different. The facial hair is easily 2 inches long but its hard to see in pics because it's lighter color and wispy. After looking at other pics I figured it out! Most of the doodles I've seen with facial furnishings are fuller near the nose and down the center of the face. Penny's furnishings start farther back. Do you think her face will fill in these areas?
