Monty cant pee - Update

this evening Monty wanted out over and over and nothing was happening.  I suspected bad things, called the vet, they told me to go to emergency care.   we are back.  Monty had two accidents in the exam room, the doctor took samples,  His ph is 8, his bladder is not full, no crystals, he has a uti.  He got an injection of antibiotics and for inflammation.  we came home with a prescription for antibiotics and pain meds.  my baby is finally starting to settle down.  DH didnt think we needed to run to emergency care, the doctor said "he never had a uti did he"   for those of us that have, we know how miserable it is, and time does nothing but make it worse.  Hopefully we will get some rest tonight.

 

Gave Monty a pain pill at bedtime, he slept on our bed the entire night.  He has had two successful pees this morning, Yeah!   The vet inquired about food changes. The only thing different over the past week has been sweet potato.  Monty loves eating them raw and I couldn't think of any reason not to indulge him.  Some of the gals at Yappy Hour last evening suggested that carbohydrates will raise ph and that sweet potatoes have lots.  :(  So I guess I learned a valuable lesson that all things in moderation, even healthy treats.  He is doing well this morning.  Thanks for all your well wishes.
