Well, the cold snap that has hit most all of us is really getting to be annoying now.
Woke up to 32 below this morning, with the prospects of it reaching a high of minus 9 today.
What the doodle ? I'll take some of that global warming up here !
Everyone in a cold area, bundle up and stay snuggled with your doodle !

Wow does it really work like this. No, not the snowshoeing, freezing one's butt off. And will I feel OK in the morning : )

Today I actually got out of class to 9 degrees, which wasn't bad. The first two weeks it was early morning business class in -5 degree weather and leaving the school in 3 degrees. YUCK. Bring on the spring.

9 degrees is sort of looking up Camilla :) Anything with a minus in front of it is just not necessary.

I laughed today because people always talk about seeing the first robin, that means spring around the corner. Well the crabapple tree next door was full of robins this morning. Guess they forgot to bring the spring along ! :) lol

I've heard that about the robins too - not a robin in sight here!

I wonder what it means when the crows are flocking by the hundreds and huddling together for warmth... and the wild turkeys have their feathers puffed out to the max ;)   They look like giant black feather fluffballs.

.

J, I don't know about the turkeys, but hundreds of crows are a common sight here. They supposedly congregate to sleep. I guess they do this more in the fall and winter, not so much to stay warm, as for protection from predators like owls. They call it roosting, and large groups of crows are called murders. When it get to be late afternoon here you can see hundreds of them flying together for a mile at a time. If you live around the area that they decide to roost in for the night, it is VERY noisy !
I'm sad that I know this. It's one of those things I know, but don't remember why I know it ! LOL
The robins I saw today were eating all the frozen crabapples. They are sweeter after they have frozen. They like to look for unsuspecting cars to make deposits on after their feast is done !

I cannot even imagine how cold that is.

Nancy it's not the worst, you just throw on some extra layers.
I'm pretty cold hardy, but you know it's REALLY cold when I finally cover my head.
Brrrr, and I have to leave the house every morning in the dark at 6:30 to head to my parents. That is a hard thing to want to do on days like these. Yesterday, and today I wore a hat AND a scarf. Finnley thinks this is great weather though!

We recently went on a motorcycle trip to Lake Havasu in Arizona.  I thought it was cold at 39 degrees - of course there was a wind chill factor because we were moving, but there is no comparison to the cold you all are experiencing.  It did make me realize that I don't have the correct clothing though!  I ended up with sores on my nose and lips from the cold and wind. This would not be fun to have all winter long......

39 degrees Nancy, THAT is almost summer warm ! LOL Of course this morning isn't so bad either. It's up to minus 4 degrees !

We hit -38C on Wednesday.  The boys had to wear their boots just to go outside to the bathroom.  They have been so antsy because we haven't been able to exercise them as musch as we normally do.  It is supposed to get up to -12C toady, so that will probably feel almost tropical after Wednesday!!

I have been waiting for more of Plattsburgh's Canadian neighbor's to chime in with their frosty temperatures. I knew it just couldn't be butt freezing weather here ! However, sorry you have to endure too. I'll bet that besides the very cold feet, Hartley and Chase don't mind it as much as their mom does ! Bundle up :)

-42F this morning! Willow started a nasty habit of doing her business 2 feet from the door. I live in Alaska and got my puppy at 8 weeks old back in October. She has been a champ during house training. But it's not constantly this extreme. We'll go through a week or so of a cold snap, then it 'warms' back up to -10F to 0.
