Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
We thought we had Gracie's fever and lethargy licked after an IV and shots on Tuesday. Overnight on Tues. she became even more lethargic and wouldn't get up Wed. morning to potty. I had to roll her off her bed to get a response - sounds cruel, but it was a gentle roll!
Took her temp. (a first for me - and we only have one thermometer which is now labeled DOG)
Sidebar: My husband thought I should label it PET in case the cat needs to have her temp taken. We both thought about that one and laughed at the thought of trying to get a cat's rectal temp!
Gracie's temp was 103, so the vet had us bring her right in, put her on an all-day IV drip, did x-rays, took blood, and did every test she could think of to solve the mystery. Gracie is much better now, but the mystery remains. Vet thinks she may have eaten a wild mushroom or some other poisonous item.
Gracie is still a bit tired today, but she has been able to eat chicken broth, canned chicken, treats, and some of her regular old food. She even gave the cat a token chase this morning. We see her former puppy self more today. Scary stuff when you've fallen in love with your puppy like we have.

So glad she seems to be a little more like her old self this morning. Fingers crossed that things continue to go in the right direction. Hugs to Gracie!
I'm so sorry you are dealing with a sick pup. Please keep us updated on her condition. Sweet thing.
Barbara, most complete blood panels that show full chemistries and values (things like elevated liver enzymes, for example) cannot be run on the spot in vet's offices and have to be sent out. Did they do one of those?
I'm glad Gracie seems better and hope she continues to improve.
Poor little Gracie. Hope she is all better soon!
Glad she seems to be a bit letter. Poor pup.
Aw Gracie! I hope she's all better soon!
I am so glad she is starting to feel better. Chasing the cat is a good sign :) It is always so scary when you don't know what is wrong. Hope she continues to feel better and is back to her normal self soon.
I'm glad that Gracie is feeling better but I am of the mind set that while having ingested something would make her sick it shouldn't cause a fever. I hope she continues to do well and the worst is behind you.
Very glad that she is beginning to feel better.
I am glad that Gracie seems to be getting better!
