How do you keep your doodles still when you are brushing them? I feel llike I am chasing Ginger around the house with a brush!!!

My groomer told me there should be a "spot" for grooming. So, I do brush and trim Rua on top of my washer. I put a non-skid rug on top. My groomer gave me a little slip lead that I put on her. I make her stand and sit as needed. I keep praising her and give her rewards or chew toys. Just keep working on it a little bit at a time. Put Ginger up, brush for a minute or two, praising her, and let her down. Repeat, lengthing the time. It is best to get them used to it now because brushing and combing is something they will need to tolerate unless you keep them shaved short!
I have a homemade grooming table in my studio (lift table with a 2X4 foot piece of plyboard bolted to it, a mat and grooming arm with slip lead ). Haley gets on the table and I put the lead on him; treat him and pump the pedal to lift him to an easy height for me so that I don't have to bend over. It keeps Haley in one place and saves my back. When grooming is over I just roll it back out of the way.
I have a similar problem... but mine is that Luna has figured out I can't brush her if she flips on her back!
Luckily she is a flat, short-haired doodle and all she needs so far is a quick comb to get the old puppy coat out. I can't imagine trying to groom her if she were a typical curly doodle with her mischievousness!
Get a table. Dogs are 100% better on a grooming table than they are on the floor. Seriously, these should be required purchases for all Doodle owners. They fold up and store easily.
