Multigen's vs. F1b's

Hello Doodlers,

 

I'm sure this issues has been discussed multiple times before, but I was getting lost and distracted searching through all the various issues out there already.  I'm currently in the processes of communicating with a breeder (MSR) about puppy selections.  We've always wanted an F1b due to allergies, but the only up coming litters that fit our timing are multigens (multigen dad with a poodle mom).

 

I was wondering from those of you with experience if this difference really does make an impact on how much the pup is likely to shed?

Not sure how much my input counts, BUT I have a 12 week old f1b labradoodle that sheds slightly.  I say it that way because I understand that their coats change over time and that they will eventually loose their "puppy" coat. That being said, I find a little puff of hair about once a week.

I have a sixth generation  Labradoodle who does not shed.  The breeder said he would have a fleece non shed coat and that is what we got.  I would find the best breeder using the guide- lines posted here on DK in the "What to Look for in a breeder' section and go from there.  Coat is only one of the criteria, I would say temperament must be high on the list and of course looks, coat colour etc.   Be prepared though, this is not an exact science and the even  best breeders cannot always be sure of the coats.  I would say though that with a multi-gen dad and a Poodle Mom you are likely to get a non shed coat.  You are getting more than 50% Poodle in that mix. yes?
