My dog's gas can clear a room!

I know this isn't a desirable topic, but we really need advice! We feed our sweet little boy purina one and he seems to really like it, however, he has the worst gas ever! I asked my vet's office and they said that it can be normal. Has anyone else had this problem? I can't imagine it's comfortable for him and it's really embarrassing when we have company over! I didn't think that there were fillers in purina one that would cause this, but I might be wrong!? Should I change foods?

There are far better foods than purina, even without the gas issues you might want to look for a better food. There are some real food experts on these forums, I am sure they will have some suggestions for you

Do you have kids? Have you ever read the book Walter the farting dog? It's a classic at my house!! Seriously though, a lamb based food does help. If you want a good quality, less expensive food, try Kirkland's premium lamb and rice dog food. You can only get it at Costco. Oh, and read the book! :o)

Purina One is rated as a one star dog food. You can also go to the food group and read the stuff on " Commercial Foods - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly! " You will learn a lot. This is how I learned about different dog foods and their qualities.

We do not have a Costco's here in this part of PA....any other quick food suggestions instead of Purina that is with in the same pricing but better quality to feed.

Better then Purina, good price, but not the best? Diamond or Chicken Soup come to mind. This is really Diane and the food groups speciality though. Check with them.

We tried the kirkland's food...and at our house it was diarrhea central! I know that it is a highly rated food (which is why I wanted to switch to it) but it was a bust at our house. I am still traumatized by the diarrhea that invaded my life for a week and a half. We feed beneful large breed puppy food and don't have problems with gas or loose stools....but I know that the food gurus wouldn't necessarily support Beneful as an excellent choice. I switched to it after I spied my vet's wife buying it for their dogs.

Thanks everyone! The dogfoodanalysis website has been amazing! I'm now thinking of switching to canidae. I just want Timbow to not only be healthy, but feel great!
