Our doodle got bit in the face by a girlie. The wound is small but I have no clue what to do next. The bleeding has stopped but do I take him into the vet? Please help.

Oh no! :(

I'm not a vet ( obviously), but if the bleeding has stopped, that's wonderful and very important! I would say to clean it really well and call the vet in the AM. I'm not sure if the girlie is your dog or a mean neighbor kid ;) or? But if it's a dog, I'd be sure girlie is up to date with vaccinations just to be on the safe side?!

Good luck. That's sad for your Dood and scary for you! :(

Lisa, what is it that bit him? I'm sure "girlie" must be a typo. But if it was another animal, disease could be a concern. Infection can be a concern too, especially with puncture wounds. The wound needs to be cleaned and maybe disinfected.

Is the bite anywhere near his eye? Is it deep?

I'm sorry your doodle was bitten. Clean the area really well and apply some Polysporin or other antibiotic ointment and keep a really close eye on it. There is a spray on version that is less messy and works just as well. If it shows the least sign of being infected bring him to the vet. Quincy recently has a couple of small puncture wounds compliments of his doggie cousin, I cleaned them twice a day and applied Polysporin and they healed well. Make sure that he can't get at the area to aggravate it. Of course if the puncture wounds are deep and it really concerns you a trip to the vet won't hurt. Good luck.

How does that happen??
