Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I feel like the worst doodle momma this evening. I took my 12 week old mini-goldendoodle for his usual afternoon leashed walk and we saw another leashed dog being walked by a friend in my business complex. The vet has been encouraging me to begin socializing and we've been doing that alot over the past few weeks and Lambeau, my doodle has been doing great!. The dog was fine and then we turned to go back to my office and the other dog attacked Lambeau out of nowhere! He was a beagle/terrier mix. He bit him 3 times which one of the bites in his leg cursed his bone to break and then he latched himself onto the back of my doodle's neck and I physically was pulling the dog off my Lambeau. long story short Lambeau is in the ICU this evening awaiting surgery for his leg tomorrow. Good news is there is no spinal damage and he is being pumped full of antibiotics to resist infection. Have any of you experienced anything like this or a broken leg in a small puppy? What types of things should we be looking at in terms of recovery?

I, too, feel badly that this happened.  There was no way you could have foreseen it.  Because he is young and still growing, the leg should heel well, but you are going to be on dog duty for awhile.  I will be thinking of you.

I feel so badly for you that you and Lambeau are going through this pain but that's good news about his treatment and prognosis.  Sending you positive thoughts and prayers for a good outcome to today's surgery.

Surgery is scheduled for around 2:00 today and should last approximately two hours. My husband will be there at the end and as he wakes up from the surgery. I will try and update as soon as we know more. Thank you for all your kind words, comments, and prayers. They really do mean a lot!!
I am on my phone, and not too proficient with it! I am not sure if there is an update. I hope so much that surgery was a big success. I am thinking of you all. Doodle hugs...I am so glad your husband could be there.

Our thought and prayers are with Lambeau today.  The prognosis sounds good for him and the fact he is so young should be a positive too.  Will be looking for updates on his recovery and hopefully it will be a speedy one!

Thanks for updating us on Lambeau. I'm glad your DH was able to be there for him when he awoke from surgery so he could see a familiar, loving face! Hopefully he's out of surgery by now and the mending can begin.  My heart just breaks for your little guy. :(

I'm just now seeing this, and I'm so sorry to read about this awful attack.  Absolutely frightening.  I hope the surgery went well today and sending positive thoughts for a speedy recovery for sweet Lambeau.

I am glad Lambeau is having his surgery today and can begin to heal and move on.  I hope things went as expected.

Best thought through this unfair situation. Hoping for the best outcome.
Hi Megan! I was just checking in to see how you and Lambeau are doing. I hope recovery is going well on all levels. Please give an update as your time allows!
Hey everyone! Lambeau is recovering extremely well!! He got his stitches out and sling off last Friday and he is allowed to walk and ease back into normal activity. He should be complete clear at the first of the year. In the meantime he looks like a poodle with Pom Pom feet due to the shaving of his legs for surgery and his IV lol. We are so grateful he is doing better...now only if he would look like a doodle again instead of a poodle lol!
