My labradoodle Lucy is 6 months old. She is a great dog with wonderfull personality. Lucy was born with alot of fluffy hair. Then it all fell out. Now she is growing new hair but not as much as I would like. SHe has some hair on her back, around her neck her ears and her tail. No hair on her face and her legs. Will she grow hair on those palaces? Will she grow more hair at all? I really hope so. When does the hair stops growing? Would grooming her help with her hair growth?
Thank you all.
What KIND of labradoodle is she? Were her parents a labrador and a poodle or is she a multigenerational labradoodle or Australian labradoodle?
When you say she has No hair on her face and legs...you mean it's just short right? Because in the photos she doesn't look bald, but merely short haired. By those photos, I"d say this is what she will look like... the genetics just lined up to give her more a retriever coat. I doubt she'll grow much longer haired on her face or legs...I think THIS is going to be her look with perhaps a slight increase in scruffiness...but not much.
Okay I just visited your page and on there you said she's an F2. Is she an F2 from two F1 matings or is she an F1b type of F2? Sorry for so many questions.
With an F1 x F1 mating the chances of a coat like hers is very high because there is a possibility for more puppies to be born that look more like retrievers as well as some that look more like a poodle... and everything in between. Can't predict too much when breeding an F1 x F1, which is why it is not usually recommended if you want a doodley look for an outcome.
It would be interesting to know what EXACTLY is behind her. You stated she is an F2 but until we know if that is the result of two F1 matings or an F1 to a Poodle, it will be difficult to give you the reasons why she ended up looking like this. I would be very surprised if she is the result of a Poodle backcross. I believe your girls parents are true F1's. Your pup ended up with a high percentage of Lab genes and this will be her look at maturity with maybe a bit more 'spritzes'. This is very common with early generation matings. If they were both F1's then genetically your pup is STILL half Lab and half Poodle. Most dogs with lots more coat have a higher percentage of Poodles in their lines to increase the curls and thickness.
I agree with al that has been said--she will be a bit scruffy but more like a retriever. But that said..she is adorable and sit sounds like she is such a great dog! I guess there is also a chance that she will shed more than the average doodle.
