I have been on a modified eating program and have lost 30 pounds so far this year.  My doctor is thrilled and has reduced my blood pressure medications by half.

However, I have missed things like French Fries and Fried Chicken and Fish which I truly love.

In line with that, I just purchased a Gowise 4TH Generation Air Fryer.  This has been touted as the best bang for the buck on various Internet sites.  I had a bit of money coming from Amazon.com (I do a lot of my shopping on that site) and the fryer cost me only three dollars over the cash I had coming.  GREAT DEAL!

I have done French Fries and they came out wonderful.  Crisp on the outside and soft inside. Potatoes alone really don't have that many calories and they are filled with other nutrients (Vitamin C - would you believe).  I have a slicer that cuts the potato into McDonald's size french fries.  One russet potato takes only one teaspoon of oil; (I use olive oil but, you can use just about oil you like). Not a lot of calories or artery blocking fat in those fries!

Even Judy who basically dislikes fried foods thought that these French fries were great.  I am going to experiment with all kinds of recipes in line with my new healthy eating habits.

The dogs loved them also and best of all, they are pretty healthy for humans and animals...

And cleaning the Gowise Air Fryer is a snap!

Sounds terrific. I like all those fried things too.

This sounds interesting. Congratulations on the weight loss.

Thanks, Richard.  We are going to check this out.  Both Skip and I need to lose weight.  Perhaps this will be the impetus to improve our eating habits.

I really changed my eating habits starting around the first of  the year.  It wasn't a New Year's Resolution or any thing like that.  My doctor told me that I was in danger of developing diabetes unless I lost weight.

I stopped eating fried foods, no baked goods or sweets.  I then began seriously looking at the calories in everything that I eat.  I do miss the fried foods (well actually, I miss bread the most).  The air fryer gives me back some of my fondest things like French fries.

It is said that if you lose weight over a long period of time, rather than a crash diet, it is easier to keep the weight off because by that time you have modified your eating habits.

I like being able to wear some clothes that I had become to heavy to wear.  I had to buy a new belt because, I had just poked too many new holes to make my old belt smaller.  Somehow, it is more pleasant to buy smaller clothes due to weight loss than having to buy larger items because of weight gain.

I want to lose an additional 15 pounds or so.  And, yes, I do some exercise but, I am not fanatical about that.

I carried a thirty pound sack of chicken feed down to my chicken area in my lower yard and it was a lot easier than it had been when I was heavy.  Then I realized that I had been carrying those thirty pounds on my frame all he time.

Good for you!

Hi Richard~I bought one after hearing several of my friends raving about them. It arrived, but I hadn't opened it yet. I started looking up recipes on the internet since we are such picky eaters. I felt that I would only be using it to make fried chicken or french fries, so I returned it. Now I am having second thoughts after hearing about your weight loss. I am diabetic and need to lose some weight. What else do you make besides the fries and chicken? By the way, I love your photographs.

I found this interesting article about the fryer...https://www.buzzfeed.com/michelleno/philips-airfryer-review?utm_ter...

Oh my...I WANT ONE!  Thanks for the heads up.  My partner LOVES french fries...go figure, he's the "skinny" one.

So now I can indulge!

I also eat a lot of air popped popcorn.  Four cups of air popped corn has only 140 calories (with a salt, pepper and Parmesan cheese topping).  That goes a long way to fill me up.  I eat about 2-cups of popcorn (70-calories) about an hour before the night time meal.  Goes a long way in reducing my appetite.

When I started the weight reduction program, I weighed 235-pounds.  Last weigh-in; I was right at 195-pounds. I had to buy a new belt and just ordered a couple of pairs of jeans one size smaller.  It's more enjoyable to purchase smaller clothes than having to buy larger sizes...

BTW:  There are lots and lots of air-fryer recipes on the Internet.  I also down-loaded a few books on my Chrome Book which has a Kindle Reader installed.  The cookbooks cost .99-cents each and contain lots of great recipes.

I "think" that I might purchase a larger Air Fryer if I were to buy another.  The Gowise model is a bit small.

Maybe I will get one for myself. I love fried chicken and wings and my husband hates all of it. So it would just be for me. If I can make a little healthier version of my faves, then I am on it. I have the red one in my cart.
