Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hello.I am a first time Golden Doodle mom :)
I'm pretty new to the Dog world as well.
Jack is his name. He was born 1-25-17, now 8 weeks old. Dad is Poodle and mom is Golden Retriever. I am kennel training.
I was wondering a couple things.
When should I give him his 1st bath?
Any great treats advise for rewards?
Super curious as to what he will look like when he is older? His paws seem really big and at this point his fur is not shedding.
Any advise appreciated any thoughts as well.
Thank you,

Regardless-Jacks a keeper :)
Your puppy is gorgeous!!
Thank you so much!
Jack is an adorable puppy. He is a beautiful color. Some breeders give the puppies a bath before sending them home, but some don't. Jack may or may not need a bath when you first get him. When you bathe him, be sure not to get water in his ears.
Our breeder sent both of ours home with a fresh bath, with baby shampoo, so they smelled so sweet. I do bathe my two often, at least every 2 weeks. They sleep in our bed and bring a lot of dust, dirt and pee pee drips, wet beards and the occasional butt smudge mark, into bed with them, so it's a overall family health and cleanliness issue for me. I use the sanitize cycle on my washer when washing sheets and duvet cover as well. Jack's color is perfect for hiding a lot of dirt, as does my Murphy. He is the same color. But we have white doodle who looks "dusty and dull" when she's dirty so I usually judge both of their dirty level by her look.
Keeping ears dry is very important, some use a dry cotton ball in the ears during the bath so the water doesn't just pour into their ears.
Welcome and Good luck and enjoy your precious doodle.
Smart thinking on how you judge the dirt level :)
I think I will use Cotton balls as well...
Thank you so much...
Awww what a cutie pie!
Yes-gross but he Loves it :)
I actually use a metal comb-seems to work good.
Like you I want to brush everyday and he seems to be totally fine with it- although; he tries to catch it with his teeth so I have his toys around so he can chew on that.
Super beautiful color! He will definitely be a head turner! Learn all you can about socializing, training, feeding, pottying as soon as you can! I had not had a puppy for over 40 years...so I needed all the training I could get! Back in the "day" taking care of a puppy to dog years was much different. Many folks (like my neighbors) still don't believe a dog needs training...they just tie them up in the yard and leave them to bark and their own device. Sad. So much good information on this site...but also do your own research. If you desire a well behaved puppy/dog, you'll need to to the time! So well worth every minute devoted to helping your baby be the best he can be! Enjoy
Thank you...
Your Doodles are adorable :)
Yes, I am definitely trying to read as much as possible...
