Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
the other night I was watching the making of the upcoming Peter Pan special that is going to be on this Thursday night...Well the dog that is playing Nana, the nursery dog, I believe is a golden doodle or a labradoodle????..did anyone see this???...the production looks just wonderful, and to see how it started, even the selction of the cast, and the sets and scenery, unreal...Now, I know that in all the older productions, Nana was an Old English Sheep Dog, but not this time, I was just curious if anyone has saw this...

have not seen it, but it is on Thursday night and now I will be sure to watch! That would be a good choice!
I agree, it was the best choice, lol...Because of Nana the dog, when my kids were little we had two old english sheep dogs, a brother, we named him Panda bear, and his sister, Flossie Bird...we had them for over 10 yrs, and they died within 6 mos. of each other....they were wonderful, and when I look at pictures, only have the best memories. they loved my kids, all kids for that matter, lol...they were a very special pair...
Here is a link to the NBC site and the Making of Peter Pan is a link on that page--after you get thru the commercials, the dog is shown at about 23 minutes in--looks like a golden doodle to me.
I looked it up and the dog's name is Bowdie. It says he is a poodle mix, so definitely a doodle! :-) Here is a link to a story with a photo and a video of him:

That coloring and coat makes me think Bowdie might be a "Sheepadoodle", half Standard Poodle and half OES.
Here's a great photo of him that shows his coloring: http://www.nbc.com/peter-pan-live/about/bio/bowdie
BTW, Barrie's original "Nana"was a Newfoundland, and in the Disney animated film, she's a St. Bernard. Both breeds that are phenomenal with kids.
And here's Bowdie's trainer, quite famous: http://www.theatricalanimals.com/
No, but if Nana is a Doodle I'll be watching.
I will be sure to watch tomorrow, thanks for telling us. Yes, I would say that Nana is a doodle, but maybe a sheepadoodle. A poodle mix makes her a doodle, but what kind is rather questionable. Because of her coat, I would say a sheepadoodle and that makes sense to me. Here is a photo of a sheepadoodle that was on the beach in Carmel. I am getting one next year and was told they are not very smart or energetic, but that works for me. We shall see. Some are gray rather than black and white, and Nana looks like a gray sheepadoodle to me.
Lots of questions about this dog and I am sure they will have DNA testing done before long. Some say a Newfoundland, some say a Bearded Collie, some say a little Wolfhound mix, so I'm sure we will see before long. I still say Sheepadoodle.
I am so jealous, I want a sheepadoodle so bad...Someone here on Doodlekisses has one, can't remember who it is, but her Christmas card last year was just so cute....I can't understand why they say they are not smart, having had two of the breed,(Old English Sheepdogs) I found them to be highly intelligent....But even if the aren't that smart, I want one anyway, and I am like you, it is fine if they are laid back, lol....can't wait till you get one and I can see pic...
