Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I recently found a delightful breeder, sent deposit and was beyond excited to finally have the search behind me, when the breeder calls me to say that one of her pups are missing!!! She is so upset and it is so sad to think what might have happened to it. I feel bad for everyone. The breeder was such a delight to work with and it is so unfortunate.
However, I now am back to square one and time is getting closer to when I NEED to adopt. I have a small window due to work, a new (1st) grandbaby coming and travel. I need to adopt middle Jan. to first of Feb. give or take a week. I am looking for a F1, Cream, Male, 45-55pd max. CALM, puppy. We are active, runner, hiker, biking couple.

Please if anyone knows of a breeder that has a pup that fits this description, please let us know? Thank you all in advance.

But have you looked at the labradoodle (goldendoodle) puppies for sale group? One thing that I would suggest to make it easier for you is to be open to a different color and gender. My heart was set and cream female, then the litter only had four... And the one cream female didn't have the right temperament that I wanted. The puppy that did was a huge red male---but temperament won out and I chose him and I never regretted. Another thing to keep in mind is that sometimes the CALM one is not the best running and biking companion. At least that's the way it is with Rosco (other calm puppies may be different so I should not generalize). He is way too lazy to go jogging with me. I'm usually running ahead of him and I'm not fast.
Thanks Adina, I know I am going to need to be more flexible and the breeder has suggested one of her black males that she just adores the parents of and has highly recommended. Am I being silly and letting color prevent me from what could be a great pup? I am really not sure what to do. I have to admit, the pictures of the black ones she sent are just adorable and their coats are so pretty.
AHHH what to do, what to do.
I have to tell you...when I first started looking for a doodle I wanted a chocolate....but I couldn't refuse little black Lacie after she tried so hard to choose me as her mama. Then I thought ok, the next one will be either a chocolate or a red...and bam...there comes little black Mia running her little legs off across the breeders back yard to get to me. I love them both so much...that color just faded away and they became my precious babies!!! Good luck in your search!
We could not agree more!!

I had a chocolate pup in mind and waited a long time when we first started out, then my little 'black' Brianna stole our hearts out of the blue..she is forever sweet, loving, smart, gentle, playful and 'so meant to be'. Well, then when we sought our our second doodle this red/chocolate boy stole my heart, but he was chosen and meant to be for another lucky family....well shortly there after, our beautiful Black Duncan filled the spot so perfectly. His temperament, charm, loving ways and he is so playful and oh so smart..he is our 'truly meant to be' and my "momma's little boy" for sure!!
Color ??...I think all Doodles are beautiful!!
Good Luck in your search, the right one will there for you!!
Maybe that would make it easier if I knew that the little Black one chose me, but I won't see it in person until it arrives by plane. I have been in touch with a breeder about 15 miles from where we stay in Arizona and she has a litter due by Christmas, ready late Feb. I would be able to see them soon after birth and growing and see which one might bond with me over the course of a few visits.
They are cream, and the size I would like.
I am considering the breeders advice, she seems very sincere and wants whats best for her pups too. Thanks for your input.
I'm the odd one out...Rosco did NOT choose me. I am quite sure if I had met him along with his littermates he would have ignored me...he pretty much did when I went to pick him up! So I tend to veer on the side of "let the breeder choose" BEST personality/temperament to match YOU--if the breeder is experienced and trustworthy in this area.

My first criteria on breeders is: health testing of breeding stock, good health guarantee for 2 years that reimburses $$ if puppy develops hereditary condition in that time, good reputation, clean and well organized breeding program. After that is fulfilled if the breeder is good with doggy knowledge then I would let her pick for me (unless there was a color or size I absolutely did NOT want).
She is afraid it got out or possibly picked up by a hawk or worse yet, stolen. I feel she is very diligent, but with 13 pups and 5 kids and other litters around, it probably is just hectic. I certainly wouldn't fault anyone with that much on their plate. The pup was about 4 wks old. The breeder is very upset, and I feel for her.
So the breeder lost "your" pup??

Well good luck in your search. I think everything happens for a reason!!
Hi Sue,
I know a breeder who I think fits this bill! Go to www.doodleallday.net
If you have trouble accessing, let me know. She has gorgeous pups right now!

I am a firm believer in going to meet the puppies and letting the one that captures your heart come home with you!

As the Mom to a Black Doodle, I can tell you that color doesn't matter; personality and "fit" into your life, is the important thing to consider.
Hi Gail, I really do agree with you about meeting the puppy and it has been hard up till now finding one where I live that would allow for that in my time frame. I really would prefer not to ship sight unseen or without really getting to know the pup.

I did find a breeder however, in AZ,that will have a litter of cream f1's next week and be available late feb. I will be able to visit after they are born and as often as I wish, to get to know the pups and no shipping involved, so I think fate has intervened and if I am willing to wait an extra 5-6 weeks longer than I had originally planned, then it should all work out. I have followed many of the guidelines in finding a breeder and through DK have learned what to ask and what to expect. It has made me a much more educated consumer and responsible dog-owner.

I agree with you on the "fit". And the black one may have. i just have a real preference for cream and just can;t seem to let go of that ideal puppy image. It seems there are a lot of "personalities" with different litters, so I should be able to find one that "fits", besides the black one. Or I hope so.
