I shouldn't have tried clipping Charli while she was squirming ut I thought I had her foot in a tight hold. Well, I didn't. I cut her quick and she is bleeding. Tried pressure and septic stick. Slowed down but hasn't stopped. I have her boot bandaged up and in my sock. What else can I do? How long does it take to stop? Do I have to worry about infection?

Thanks!!

You can buy stff called Kwik-Stop from most pet stores. Use a wet Q-tip, dip it in the stuff and press it hard against the nail that is bleeding for a minute or so. It really works and isn't that expensive. Both of ours have black nails, I feel like I am playing Russian Roulette every time I trim them!!
Adrianne, I bet a lot more of us have done it than like to admit. They do forgive you. I have clipped Murphy too close and he bleed off and on for two days also. I thought he was going to need a transfusion!!! Anyway, all fine, and he let me do it next time without getting too skittish. I, on the other hand have totally lost my confidence and only clip the tiniest bit. I think he picks up on my apprehension too and pulls away unless I just do it!

The super glue trick worked for us to stop the bleeding. I keep it on hand, but doubt I'll ever be that bold again.
