Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
So I work with Harper everyday, trainer her. Socializing her. Shes only 14 weeks and at 10 weeks she knew the commands come, sit, paw, other paw, and lay down. When she sees people and other dogs she obviously gets excited and wants to play with them. Shes a great dog and listens very well but she is a puppy and has a one track mind! This weekend we came across a women at the vets office during a fundraiser who had 2 goldendoodles. We took her outside to talk to the women and she starts giving us a hard time for taking our puppy/goldendoodle to the event. She runs a puppy kindergarden program in our area and she went on and on about how we need to socialize her and she needs to have proper training. Ive never been so offended. Harper's still a baby and I felt insulted by this women who belittled us. I appreciate advice but come on.

Sounds like this woman needs some proper training herself. That, plus some medical help for her diarrhea of the mouth. Just shrug it off. Harper is doing fine.
14 weeks! Omg! If she would run into my Watson when he is in that type of situation I can only imagine the lecture I would get! While he does very well with me at my work (yes, he gets to go along) and during normal everyday activities, when he gets somewhere like the pet store or a doggie fundraising event he simply goes balistic and he just turned 1 year old on Saturday. Talk about a one track mind, his is simply Wow! let's play!! He did go to puppy kindergarten but with 3 other doodles in the class, well you can imagine! He dearly loves people and other dogs and simply cannot contain himself! But after we're there for awhile he starts to calm down and does just fine. While I greatly admire these extremely well trained dogs, I think perfection in my doodle would be way too boring! I love him just the way he is!
Oh don't let her rude comments get you down about your furbaby!!! she is a puppy, and that woman obviously doesnt know too much about puppies to make a comment like that, if she say both of my doodles right now she would lecture me for days. Jace is pretty chill and good but we still have issues here and there (he's 13 mos) and maggie is 10 1/2 weeks old and goodness, do we have our work cut out for us! LOL she barks, growls, jumps, etc. when she's worked up.. but we're working and she's got sit and down really well and the stay and come command are currently works in progress. :)
Sounds to me like she was a "know it all" solution looking for a problem where there was none. What were you doing, if not socializing Harper? She needs glasses! And a better marketing approach!
I had a trainer for FInn from the time he was 12 weeks old who we both love. My friend, who got a goldendoodle at about the same time, chose another trainer. I stopped by one evening, not knowing her trainer was there and when we walked in the door the two pups greeted each other with a big doodle hug :) The trainer looked down her nose at me and said "well, that has to stop!" For the next 15 minutes, she continued to be rude. We walked her out to her van where she proceeded to scream at the poor (adult) German Shepherd she left sitting there. She got in and rolled down her window to try and hand me her card telling me she MIGHT consider training my little fluffball of a pup. I'm not usually rude, but I looked her right in the eye and said NOT in a million years!
