Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi! Just adopted a goldendoodle from the shelter in Camarillo, Ca. They spay before you can bring the dog home, so we will pick him up this Wednesday afternoon.
We named him Ruffie de Creme BrewLait (since I am a coffee lover). Ruffie is a 2 month old male.
I am reading as much as I can about the new puppies on the site here, and downloaded books on Doodles from Amazon Kindle. There were quite a few.
I have had Yorkies for the past 40 years, and lost my last one to collapsing trachea 4 months ago.
I have seen and loved the Doodles over the past few years, and started reading up on them. Imagine my surprise when one turned up in the local shelter.
Am calling our vet for a checkup this Thursday morning, and want to get pet insurance. No way to know health history with a shelter dog. I like what I have seen with Healthy Paws.
Shopping today for a crate, and probably Origen puppy food. Will post pictures as soon as I can figure out how. ANY advice for first few days would be welcome.

Oh, such a cutie. Only two months old? How much does he weigh? He looks on the small side. You will have so much fun with him. Go slow at first because you don't know what his history is. A little grooming and potty training right now. And pet insurance does look like a good choice right now. Your vet should be able to tell you a little more. Congratulations and welcome to DoodleKisses - the best website around for doodle lovers everywhere.
He looks like a sweetie. Have fun with him. (:
Thank you for saving this pup. You certainly have been doing your homework too: Good food, a crate, insurance!
Good for you and Welcome to DK
Congratulations! He's adorable!
Adorable! Thanks for rescuing him--you're doing a wonderful thing for him and for your family!
Congrats and welcome to DK! He is a cutie for sure!
He is adorable. Congratulations. Not knowing his history and amount of socialization I would join the puppy madness, training, nutrition, grooming groups.
Congrats! He looks so sweet!
Suzy ~ you can add a photo to any discussion by putting your cursor over the icon right next to the LINK icon. Then upload from your computer, ipad or ?? Ruffie is such a cutie. Check out the grooming group for some great tips on grooming. At the very least start out massaging his feet and ears so he gets used to being touched and give him a light brushing every other day. He will love you for that and I believe it also helps to create a bond between you. He is so young I wonder how he ever arrived at a shelter! I am so happy you found each other. BTW - welcome to
Doodle Kisses!
