I need some help...Ok, it is day two of Curly being on his new food. We started mixing 75% old food with 25% of the new food into his diet which the vet told us to do to let him get used to it. Well, he is picking out all the new food and leaving most of the old food...
Smart doggy. Now today he has diarrhea..
Any suggustions? Will this stop after he gets used to the new food??
Thank you!

Oh, and also we switched him to a No-grain food..TOTW, when before he was on a food that had rice in it
Sheri, There is a lot of good information in the Food Group. Here is the link, just in case. Good luck.
if he is picking out the new stuff and leaving the old theres not much you can do other than try to mix it all together with some canned food (also grain free). The diarrhea will stop once hes used to the new food
Thank you, I will give that a try!
I would be tempted perhaps to cold turkey the switch if he is picking it out and just realize that there might be a bit of a 'transition period.' I am not one to put toppers on all the time, but a bit of unflavored yogurt or pumpkin during the transition might help any tummy troubles. BTW, we feed our guys TOTW also and it works very well for all of them. When we switched from grained to grain-free, our dogs had lots of gas for a while.
I agree with this advice.
When I transitioned Riley to grain free food (Orijen) I did it cold turkey and he did have very stinky gas for a few weeks and soft poops too. I stuck with it though and it did settle down. I added a little pumpkin or natural yoghurt. It took nearly three weeks until it was completely normal and I am so glad I stuck with it as we haven't looked back since.
