I've lived in Jersey most of my life and have NEVER seen such devastation. I have close friends who lost everything they own including their home. Food is scarce and gasoline is a 2.5 hour wait if you can find it. Yet through all this NJSPCA agents and officers are fighting the destruction to help save lost/missing pets - starting with the hardest hit, the Jersey Shore. These animals need food, blankets, crates, towels, cleaning supplies, etc. Donations can be dropped off at Associated Humane in Tinton Falls and Lacey Township. NJSPCA will transport and distribute the supplies to animals and shelters in need. Monetary donations can be made at njspca.org hurricane chipin. Thank you for your help! Tiffi

Here is a link to a story on what they are doing for the animals:  http://www.northjersey.com/news/More_than_100_pets_rescued_from_Sea...

I can't imagine how scared those poor animals must be.

Thanks for sharing this Diane....good to know how to help.

Thank you for the link.
We never had dogs while living in Florida but I agree, I would not leave them behind. DH and I always had to work during hurricanes, he at the fire dept and me at the hospital. Kids came with me or were with family.
. We lived on water most of our 40 yrs there, so staying was usually not an option nor would it be for dogs. Not to mention Murphy would be out of his mind with all the noises in a shuttered up house. How horrible for him. Not to mention food and water and potty. Sometimes it was days before we could get back home. We were always reasonably lucky and well prepared so I would probably have brought them to a friend or family member hours away or more inland.
