Our 14 week old goldendoodle male was delivered on Friday. He is very well-behaved, but his stools are loose to watery. He was fine the first night, but last night he had two accidents. Since the vet is closed today I thought I would look for advice here. Will try to take him to the vet tomorrow.
Both of our dogs had the runs too - it can have to do with stress...my sister has recommended pumpkin. Not the kind that has all the spices in it, but the plain pumpkin. I had to wait over the weekend too and it was torture. I personally did the cooked hamburger with rice by Sunday morning. Mine were actually very sick (didn't get from a reputable breeder) - but it got me through until I could get to the vet. Hope he gets better soon! Congratulations on your new arrival!
I agree with the rest: canned pumpkin. No spices. Seems to firm them up when that's what needed, and loosen them up, when when they need that. Miracle food. My dog loves it (and it's a great way to hide pills when you need that, too). Good luck!
Good luck at the vet - keep us posted!
Hopefully the fecal tests come back negative and if they do, I would guess he is just getting used to his new home. My Peri had loose stools the first week or so - it just took her getting adjusted. She tested negative for giardia and coccidia.
