Hi,

Does anyone use a no pull harness to walk their dog?  I’m looking to try one with Nala and there are so many choices I figured I would ask here.

Thanks in advance,

I think the most common one people use is the PetSafe Easy Walk harness:

https://www.petsafe.net/easywalk

You can get it at most pet stores and chewy.com (cheaper on chewy than in store)

I use it with my doodle and it has worked great.

This is also the one I use for Zoey.  I love it.  After you fit it on the first time and get the straps pulled perfectly, then you only have to unbuckle once when you take it on and off.

The first one I tried had a hookup on the top and it did not work near as well for Zoey.

https://freedomnopullharness.com/      This is my go to harness for both my girls.  I've used just about every training harness out there and once I bought this one I haven't changed since.

Be sure to use whatever harness you decide upon ONLY when you are on walks, and especially not during play time (like at dog parks). Harnesses are not meant to be worn all of the time like a collar.

Thanks so much for the advice!  Nala will only wear the harness on walks.  She has a huge yard and such freedom to run.  She has been pulling on her leash when on walks so hard she chokes herself!  So going to try a harness for that.

Thanks again!

I used to use the Easy Walk but heard it wasn't good for them as it restricts their front leg movement. I had a rough time finding one that fit Teddy but found this one on Amazon. I love it because I can hook the leash to the front or back and it has a 'handle' on top that I can use to restrain him if need be. Plus it's priced just right! :) https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-Reflective-Anti-pull-Truelove-TLH...

Hi Nicole,

thanks so much for the link. I was actually looking at a similar harness called Rabitgoo.  I measured Nala’s girth and she measures 21.1. Which is not quite the medium size. The girth size for the medium starts at 22 inches. What would you recommend I get for Nala. Does it run small?

thanks a bunch!

Hey Christine- here is the exact one I got for Teddy in the large. I don't know his girth offhand (I am at work) but he weighs 50 pounds. It's still a bit large in the chest for him but works much better than any others I've tried. I think he was right on the cusp of medium/large (maybe 27 girth?) and I think I even ordered the medium and it was too small.

Hi :)

I will give this one a try.  Thanks so much for the help!

Any time- hope it works out for y'all! :)

Have had many dogs, always used a collar.  First time ever I have used a harness.  Decided to try it with Murphy.  Like it so much Tigger now has one.  Don't leave harness on like a collar, it is only for walks.

I like the one with the front leash placement and only one buckle on the top of the dog.  You have to put his feet through, buckle and go!

Hi,

back with yet another harness question. I went ahead and bought a harness that is like the one Nicole suggested...and it was so heavy for Nala. She is on the petite side, 20 pounds. it was like putting a saddle on her.  Does anyone have a recommendation for a similar harness that has a front hook to help with the pulling, but more on the light side?

thanks so much
