Noisy at play... Trait from poodles, goldens (labs?) or just silly wookies like Luna?

Luna is quite loud when she plays.  She makes funny growly noises, she even growls (a throaty, non-threatening growl) when greeting us.  She also "ROOOOOOOOROOO"s (howls) when we come home almost always with a toy in her mouth.

I've been wondering lately if making funny noises is a poodle thing.. a Golden thing or just an individual personality trait?

We may have accidentally (ok, slightly on purpose) encouraged her to play noisily by making similar noises back to her when we are playing together.  It's cute to come home to Luna and you say "roo" and she says "ROOOOO!". :)

Interesting responses, thanks everyone!

It seems like it's just more of a personality trait than a breed-specific thing.  I've never had a vocal dog before (my childhood dog was VERY quiet unless alert barking) so Luna's chattiness is a (pleasant) surprise.

I guess some dogs just have a lot to say!

You and I have agreed before~ our dogs are verbal.

Spud is very verbal and can have different tones with different toys.  Kind of cute, really.  All sorts of pitches and octaves.

Spud growls a lot. If I put his collar on~ growl.  If I wipe his feet~ growl.  It absolutely means NOTHING.  We call it arguing.  He just lets me know, " I hate this Easy Walker"   Honestly, it makes me laugh.

When he was a pup, it alarmed me.  F.J. just said, he is arguing and means no harm.  And it never bothered me again.

I have no idea if it is from one trait or another. I have had other dogs make noises, and one could even say about 10 words.

But, Spud is the nosiest dog I have had.

yes, I know all about the growling noises when playing. If people didn't know my dog they would probably be frightened! I guess those doodles have a lot to say!!

Trav makes ferocious, growly noises when he's trying to push a toy into my lap when I'm at the computer.  This has always made me laugh, because he just sounds so vicious and mean.  Hearing a random dog making that noise I'd think something horrible was happening!  Otherwise, he's pretty quiet.

Clancy is our rescue.  We got him at two so whatever he 'learned' was before our time with him.  He is the noisiest dog.  He loves his toys and grunts and growls and murmers to them.  Sometimes he rolls around on the floor and makes lots of happy noises.  These could in no way be misconstrued as barking - he does that too.
