normal labradoodle puppy behavior

He All,

i recently got a golden doodle puppy from a lady who was trying to get them  homes.  i understand he is still a puppy but he doesn't like to be around me or my family.  He will go off into a dark room by himself and not come out when we call him.  If he is sleeping on the floor and i pick him up to cuddle with him he will want to get off 5 seconds later and go on the floor away from me to sleep.  The person home was not very clean and i noticed that he has fleas.  Right now he is 8 weeks old, i don't know if this is normal behavior for the breed or if i have cause to be concerned.  if anyone could give me some  insight that wold be great!

Brittany thanks for the update! Glad to hear the Levi is healthy. I hope you really enjoy getting to know each other. There are a lot of nice people here, helpful groups, good advice and support. Don't be shy :). Puppy Madness might be a great place to start.

So good to hear that you have a healthy normal pup and he just needs a little time to adjust to his forever home and new people. Like I said, Murphy acted the same when he first came to us. After all his shots you can socialize away at dog parks and day cares. We did follow the advise of having our pup meet about 100 different people by 10-12 weeks old. We were traveling around the country with him so it wasn't hard to do. Bella came at 10 weeks so didn't get as much socialization, however, she is very secure in her own doggie skin and hasn't met someone she doesn't love. Especially if you pet her. Remember, You get out of him what you put into him.
