Off to Acadia National Park with two doods

We are leaving in the morning for a week in Bar Harbor, Maine and Acadia National Park! For my DH's birthday, I rented a small house up there that allows dogs, so Mattie and Rio are coming along. Lyric is just a few weeks from delivering her pups, so she will stay with the breeder for the week.

I am looking forward to taking the dogs on the beach, as they have never been on one--it should be fun to see their reactions to waves! We live on a stream which they wade into all the time, but this is something totally different. I hope they love it! There are lots of beautiful hiking trails too and dogs are allowed on most of them. Bar Harbor is a dog-crazy town, so this should be a lot of fun.

I will take lots of pictures and share with all of you--I am hoping to get one that will be good for the doodle calendar!

Here are some pics from day 1--just fun stuff--nothing calendar worthy--the dogs went to a dog friendly outdoor restaurant today and went to the top of Cadillac Mountain--the weather is so clear and lovely today, that the view was spectacular! The dogs were very good and made a new friend, a bichon frise-toy poodle mix puppy named Daisy. Everyone at the top of the mountain were asking about Rio and Mattie and wondering if they were labradoodles. The weird thing is that three people up there out of maybe 20 we talked to had goldendoodles--I guess doodles ARE becoming popular!

I think Rio is now exhausted--he is sleeping soundly at my feet and getting ready for another day of adventure.

I got to spend a good part of one day in Sag Harbor about a year ago and absolutely loved it! My parents and I went on 'The Colors of Fall' cruise on Holland America and Sag Harbor was one of our ports of call. You are going at such a beautiful time! Have fun!
