Oh That Doodle! (alternate title "Is it just Callie or is it your dood too?")

Every Sunday, I strip the bed and put on new sheets (I love fresh sheets and part of my lottery-winning fantasy includes a staff to change my sheets daily with 1000 thread-count sheets...sighhhh). Callie is VERY against this action. I think that in her opinion, she was JUST getting those sheets nice and dirty and why am I ruining it for her by putting on those fresh sheets? Callie displays her displeasure by standing on the bed as I strip it, making it very diffucult to remove the fitted sheet. She stays in the middle of the bed while I circle around and take up the corners, and then gently slide her off the bed with the sheet. She then promptly jumps back up and camps out on the mattress pad. I say "down" and she basically says "make me". I coax her back down and get the clean fitted sheet on the bed. Then Callie jumps back to the middle of the bed and wags her tail. I spend the duration of this task alternately being frustrated and cracking up! Yesterday I made Calie up in the bed and stuck my head under the covers and barked at her (yeah, I'm that kind of cool). She thought that was an awesome game.

It did get me thinking though...is this just Callie or do other doodles prevent their families from doing a cleaning task, or object to it being done?

(this isn't a kvetch...I know I could just shut the door with her on the other side and the problem is solved)

Halas is also really helpful during bed stripping. And when he's at my mom's house, he likes to prevent her from reading the newspaper. I've gotten smart enough to fold my laundry in the laundry room, but at Mom's house, she still puts her laundry on the bed to fold it, and Halas loves to unfold or steal her clothes. So when she keeps him for a weekend, she doesn't get much done.
Mine love to interfere with "sweeping up". I have a cordless, small vac. and they get in the way try to attack it etc. Most of the sweeping up is necessary because of them anyway. I never can "pick up sticks" with them around either. Luca will charge across the yard to grab a stick. If I attempt to pick any up with him around I have to hold them over my head!
Darwin makes doing the dishes or baking really hard, as he feels it is his responsibility to sit right under my feet and hope for small specks of food to drop to the floor. Callie is so adorable, I loved this story. :-)
Snickers will "help" when we are using the swiffer on the wood floors he will follow the swiffer occasionally pawing it if he wants it to go another direction. Since he is closer to the floor than us I figure he is seeing dust bunnies we are missing :)
Rosco mostly tries to prevent me from walking without running into him.
He's also good at holding the rugs down when I try to vacuum ... but Thule was the BEST at vacuum prevention strategies.
Harlow thinks sheet changing is a game that was made up for her entertainment. She likes to get in the middle of the bed while stripping and remaking the bed. She turns in big circles on the bed and plops down in play stance. If we tell her down she will hop off only to immediately jump right back in the middle of the bed.
I think Callie and Harlow have been talking about this!
Murphy is in on it too. I'm not kidding...they are on our computers talking to each other at night when we're asleep. We throw the dirty sheets on the floor so he can roll in them (one of his favorite things in the world), and that actually gives us a chance to get the clean ones on without having to constantly drag him off the bed. Guinness just watches the nonsense.
I think there is a conspiracy at my house because if it is not Harlow playing on the bed it is our cat Cleo. =)
These should pretty much explain how it works at our house!

Peri does the same thing. I have to make her get off and give her an antler or something to keep her occupied. She even does it when I am just makign up the bed on a normal morning!
It does not matter what room I'm in, Lilly will plop right where I'm trying to walk. If I'm doing dishes she is laying right in front of the sink, if I am cooking she is in front of the stove, if I am going to get a bath she is in front of the tub. So I just keep stepping over her, because if I ask her to move she just goes in a circle and plops right down where she was.;-)
